Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Promontory, UT, is seeking a Sr/Principal Energetics Civil/Structural Engineer (Level 3 OR 4) for 100% onsite work. You will perform calculations, develop structural details, and manage large multi-disciplinary projects in a demanding space-related environment.

The role requires a STEM degree with extensive related experience and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance. Strong AutoCAD and MS Office skills, plus fieldwork capability are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of related experience.
  • Master’s degree with 3+ years in Structural/Civil design.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government security clearance.
  • Experience with field inspections and seismic analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations for sizing and arrangement of structural members.
  • Develop details for structural elements, platforms, and supports.
  • Analyze, design, and detail steel, masonry and concrete structures.
  • Review architectural systems against structural interrelations.
  • Perform code analysis per model codes (IBC, NFPA, etc.).
  • Conduct field inspections to assess existing conditions.
  • Manage projects and provide oversight across disciplines.

Our Space Systems sector in Promontory, UT, is currently recruiting for a Sr/Principal Energetics Civil/Structural Engineer (Level 3 OR 4) (otherwise known as a Facilities Structural Engineer or Civil Engineer). This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Job Summary including Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering calculations required for the sizing and arrangement of structural members.
  • Develop details for structural elements, building structures, platforms, equipment supports, pipe bridges and fall protection.
  • Analyzing, designing, and detailing structural elements of steel masonry and concrete buildings.
  • Review architectural systems designs for their inter-relationship with structural elements.
  • Perform code analysis to ensure compliance with appropriate model codes. (State building codes, NFPA, IBC etc...)
  • Perform field inspections to determine accurate existing conditions.
  • Perform field surveying Experience in seismic analysis and/or oversight.
  • Job criteria development, cost estimating, scheduling, job oversight.
  • Project Management of large jobs over multiple disciplines.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
  • Bachelors’ Degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related experience (Structural/Civil Engineering and Design) OR Masters’ Degree and with 3 years’ of related experience (Structural/Civil Engineering and Design) Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S government security clearance Skilled with Microsoft Office tools Experienced with AutoCAD Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside and in congested areas.
Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
  • Bachelors’ Degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 8 years of related experience (Structural/Civil Engineering and Design) OR Masters’ Degree and with 6 years’ of related experience (Structural/Civil Engineering and Design) Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S government security clearance Proficient in Microsoft Office tools Expert level AutoCAD experience Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside and in congested areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Structural Engineering RISA 3D preferred MathCAD experience preferred Licensed PE

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
