Job summary

L3Harris Technologies seeks a Sr. Principal, Counsel in Texas to serve as a strategic legal partner for the ISR sector. You will advise on government contracts, risk mitigation, and compliance, reporting to the Senior Director, Counsel.

Applicants must hold a JD with an active license, be a U.S. citizen, and capable of obtaining a DoD Secret clearance. This is an on-site role across Greenville, Plano, Waco, or Rockwall with a 1st Shift schedule.

Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an experienced, proactive, and solutions-focused Sr. Principal, Counselto join the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) sector.Reporting to the Senior Director, Counsel of the sector, this role operates as a legal specialist and business partner in providing strategic, proactive, and practical legal counsel and guidance to sector management and staff on general and specialized legal matters.

Essential Functions:

• Partners with leaders to assess, predict, and manage legal and other risks in a growing business operating internationally
• Advises, counsels, and functions as a trusted business partner on legal and other matters related to the business objectives of the sector
• Provides legal guidance and counseling on risk mitigation strategies, contract interpretation and provisions, dispute resolution, and other legal issues
• Negotiates, researches, drafts, revises, and / or analyzes agreements, contracts, memoranda, legal correspondence, and other legal documents
• Engages in factual investigation, analyzes complex legal and factual issues, conducts extensive legal research, independently develops, recommends, and presents strategies on a wide range of legal matters
• Ensures that sector practices and procedures comply with global, federal, state and local laws and regulations, and are consistent with applicable corporate policies and procedures
• Engages with customer counterparts as reasonably required in support of addressing certain complex legal / business transactional matters
• Collaborates with operational, subcontracts and supply chain leadership to ensure that contractual and operational risks assumed by the business are flowed down to subcontractors and suppliers
• Monitors, reviews, and resolves day-to-day legal and regulatory issues as they are assigned
• Maintains knowledge of current and emerging laws, regulations, and trends.
• Government contracts experience within the US DoD market, including both U.S. and international government and commercial customers.
• Experience in aircraft purchasing, strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills are required.
• Personal commitment to ethics and compliance, and experience working in an environment with high ethical standards.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree with 15 years of extensive experience managing contracts, aircraft purchasing agreements, and complex maintenance repair and overhaul agreements.
• Graduate degree with 13 years of extensive experience managing contracts, aircraft purchasing agreements, and complex maintenance repair and overhaul agreements.
• Must have a Doctorate (JD) degree and an active state license to practice law.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Skills:

• Active Secret clearance.
