Overview
A nationally recognized electrical power and control systems engineering firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Design Engineer to support its growing electrical power service offerings. This role is central to delivering stamped construction packages and specifications for industrial power systems, working closely with project teams and clients from design through commissioning.
What you'll do
- Lead the development of electrical power load studies
- Lead the development of comprehensive electrical power construction packages suitable to be stamped by a Professional Engineer and submitted for authority plan check
- Lead the development of comprehensive electrical power specifications associated with construction packages
- Lead the development of electrical power bills of material and coordinate with vendors for procured equipment pricing
- Execute field verification walkdowns, including as-builting existing Electrical and E&I infrastructure
- Execute factory acceptance testing on electrical power equipment
- Execute start-up and commissioning, including electrical power and E&I troubleshooting as required
- Provide best-possible after-hours support for internal/external clients as needed
- Work with Project Manager(s) to ensure quality of commercial deliverables and budget maintenance, keeping them informed of technical progress, issues, and change order needs
- Assist Project Manager(s) in developing cost estimates and proposals for new project opportunities, including applying costs to labor, expense, and procurement items
- Travel approximately 25%, including by air
Required qualifications
- 5+ years' experience developing comprehensive electrical construction and specification packages suitable to be stamped by a Professional Engineer and submitted for authority plan check, including: load studies, single line diagrams, plot plan and area/building detail diagrams, lighting, grounding, conduit and cable schedules, construction specifications, and equipment and installation details
- Knowledgeable of National Electrical Code (NEC) and IEEE 3000 Series requirements
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
- Willingness to travel approximately 25%, including by air
Preferred qualifications
- Additional experience with area classification drawings, motor/breaker schematics and wiring diagrams, and lightning protection drawings
- Familiarity with API 500
- Experience with power system modeling tools such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower
- Experience with electrical power relay settings generation and implementation using GE Multilin and SEL
- Professional Engineer License, or ability to complete licensure within 2 years
