SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Power Electronics Engineer, AI Satellites (Starmind) in Texas to lead high-performance DC-DC power conversion for harsh space environments.
You will design, analyze, and test power systems delivering from 1 W to several kW, working across power electronics, magnetics, and avionics. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliability for orbital AI platforms.
the company was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today the company is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal ofenabling human life on Mars.
the company is leveraging its experience deploying and operating the world’s largest satellite constellation to develop Starmind, a new constellation of satellites capturing solar energy in space to power low-cost, high-performance AI compute for Earth. Realizing this vision demands highly reliable, high performance electrical hardware ranging from power electronics, high speed digital systems, mixed signal designs, robust avionics, networking, and custom compute electronics. These systems must operate in the extreme environment of space while delivering the connectivity, control, power distribution, and processing needed for orbital AI inference.
Our Power Electronics team designs and develops the power conversion and control systems at the heart of Starmind satellites and orbital data centers — enabling the reliable, high-efficiency power delivery required for massive on-orbit AI compute. As a senior member of the team, your designs will run the gamut from low voltage to kV range, and powers from 1W to many kW (applications include high-density compute power delivery, battery systems, motors/actuators, ion propulsion, laser optical links, and other vehicle systems critical to orbital AI platforms).
Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines
