Job summary

Amazon.com LLC in Houston, TX is seeking a Sr. Project Manager to lead initiatives within the Social Responsibility and Global Procurement Sustainability teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work across GPO, collaborating with external partners and internal business partners to identify and assess regulatory and human rights compliance risks related to our supplier baseline.
  • Review new and existing suppliers (legacy) ensuring they meet Human Rights compliance, safety, terms of service standards, investigate suspicious suppliers/driver activity and behaviors that could pose a risk to Amazon, our customers, or others.
  • Drive cross-functional assessments of risks and controls to align to company strategy and risk appetite; make independent decisions on supplier integrity and compliance.
  • Draft responses to high-priority and critical issues in partnership with WW OPs and HRSI team.
  • Handle day-to-day issues and continuously think about inventing and simplifying to improve.
  • Engage with vendors during the Audit Process, re-establishing expectations around their roles and responsibilities.
  • Define and execute standard communication pathways for all vendors and identify escalation procedures.

As Sr. Project Manager, you will work under the leadership of the SR (Social Responsibility) Operations Lead, within the Global Procurement Sustainability (GPS) team, closely with Amazon’s Social Responsibility team and the Global Procurement Organization to implement mechanisms to meet Amazon’s human rights principles and Supply Chain Standards and to ensure our suppliers are compliant with those.

Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities
  • Working across GPO, collaborating with external partners and internal business partners, such as Operations, HRSI and Sustainability, Legal and Risk Management to to identify and assess regulatory and human rights compliance risks as it relates to our supplier baseline
  • Reviewing new and existing suppliers (legacy) ensuring that they meet Human Rights compliance, safety, terms of service standards, investigate suspicious suppliers / driver activity and behaviors that could pose a risk to Amazon, our customers, or others
  • Driving cross-functional assessments of risks and controls to align to company strategy and risk appetite. Be able to assess the real situation sometimes with limited information in hand in order to make an independent decision about the suppliers’ integrity and compliance standards
  • Drafting responses to high-priority and critical issues that arise, in partnership with WW OPs and HRSI team
  • Handling day-to-day issues (constantly thinking about how to invent and simplify to improve)
  • Engage with vendors during the Audit Process, re-establishing expectations around their roles and responsibilities.
  • Define and execute on standard communication pathways for all vendors and identify escalation procedures.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • 5+ years of supply chain experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in a procurement organization performing vendor management, contract management, negotiating complex purchases, and bidding
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in project or program management
  • Experience in procurement, budgeting, forecasting, or asset management
  • Experience in people management and team development
  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
  • Knowledge of collecting data from log files, data stores, SQL, and APIs
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
  • MBA, or Advanced degree
  • 12+ years of public policy, government relations, community relations, public affairs, or corporate social responsibility experience
  • Experience in an HR, privacy, legal, compliance or risk management role
  • Experience in project and program management
  • Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross functional teams or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
