Job summary

6 Degrees Group is seeking a payroll-focused Generalist to own the full U.S. and Canadian payroll cycle from end to end in a hybrid environment.

This temp-to-perm role goes beyond processing, addressing compliance, HRIS data integrity, year-end filings, and employee-facing payroll support. You will collaborate with HR and Finance, handling multi-state and Canadian payroll, W-2 and T4 year-end filings, and system updates across entities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience including multi-state and Canadian payroll.
• Hands-on experience with Paylocity and enterprise HRIS.
• Solid understanding of U.S. and Canadian payroll laws and compliance obligations.
• Strong Excel skills; CPP certification a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Process and audit semi-monthly U.S. and Canadian payroll, ensuring accuracy in hours, deductions, tax withholdings, and statutory compliance including W-2 and T4 year-end filings.
• Maintain and audit employee data in the HRIS, supporting compensation, benefits, and tax status changes, and coordinate accurate setup during onboarding and offboarding.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee pay and time-related questions, and prepare payroll reports and summaries for leadership and external auditors.
• Partner with Finance and HR on reconciliations, system updates, and process improvements; support multi-entity or global payroll needs as they arise.
