Job summary

Baxter International Inc. in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, seeks a Lean Excellence Leader to drive performance improvement across the Growth and Performance System (GPS) and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.

You will partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Leadership to embed a culture of operational excellence, deliver cost savings, and build capability through training and coaching.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams on improvement projects.
  • Solid understanding of cGMP, FDA and EHS regulations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site performance improvement initiatives through GPS to achieve operational excellence maturity targets.
  • Partner with site leadership to identify, prioritize, and execute improvement projects aligned with strategic goals and business needs.
  • Drive cultural transformation by promoting Lean thinking, problem-solving methodologies, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Lead Margin Improvement program (MIP) and ensure achievement of annual cost savings, efficiency, and productivity targets.
  • Facilitate and coach cross-functional teams on Lean/Six Sigma tools, including root cause analysis, process mapping, and statistical problem-solving techniques.
  • Support the development and execution of the Site Strategic Plan, including goal setting, performance tracking, and governance processes.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve cycle times, optimize production flows, and enhance manufacturing and business processes.
  • Design and implement Key Performance Indicators to monitor process performance, team effectiveness, and continuous improvement progress.
  • Support the Lean Daily Management System to ensure consistent execution and accountability at all organizational levels.
  • Lead training initiatives to build Lean and Operational Excellence capabilities across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, cGMP, FDA regulations, and external standards through robust process improvements.
  • Collaborate with global and divisional teams to share best practices and drive standardization efforts.
  • Actively support Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, promoting a zero-harm workplace.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Proficiency in data analysis, statistical tools, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish).
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred.
