Amazon.com Services LLC in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Operations Manager to lead a large-scale fulfillment operation. You will own budgets, develop leaders, and drive Lean initiatives across Inbound or Outbound teams, delivering top-tier customer service every day.

The role requires 7+ years of direct management in manufacturing, production, or distribution, with a track record in staffing lifecycle and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required or 2+ years of equivalent experience (non-education item).
• Experience with Lean techniques and performance metrics is required.
• Experience managing staffing lifecycle: interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination.
• MBA preferred for advancement and leadership roles.

What You'll Do

• Own the operation – Take full accountability for budgetary performance, people development, and operational excellence across your functional area (Inbound or Outbound).
• Lead and develop leaders – Manage, coach, and mentor a team of Operations and Area Managers, setting clear expectations and holding them accountable while building the next generation of Amazon leaders.
• Drive continuous improvement – Champion Lean initiatives, process innovations, and quality programs that push your team and the FC to exceed business goals.
• Deliver a world-class customer experience – Ensure safety, quality, and performance standards are met or exceeded every single day.
• Collaborate cross-functionally – Partner with HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and peer leaders to secure resources, share best practices, and drive site‑wide success.
• Cultivate ideas – Source and nurture innovative ideas from your team, translating them into actionable improvement plans that raise the bar across the network.
• Share best practices – Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and the broader network.

Additional Job Elements To This Hands‑on Leadership Role

• Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
• Walking in the FC and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length
• Continual standing and/or walking an average of 5 miles daily
• Ability to work in construction /distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, not air‑conditioned
• Able to access all areas of building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation)

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent experience
• Work flexible hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays
• 7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment
• Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques
• Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations
• Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation
• Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations or related field. MBA preferred
