Job summary

KAISER Permanente in Oakland, California is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist for inpatient per diem coverage. You will provide occupational therapy services under the direction of the Director, Assistant Director, or Clinical Supervisor.

Responsibilities include mentorship, department in-services, staff training, and participation in performance improvement activities. The role requires a California OT license, BLS, and NPI, with at least two years of experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of experience as an occupational therapist.
• Graduate of an accredited OT curriculum with a Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degree with certification in occupational therapy or foreign trained equivalent.
• California OT license required at hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Provider Identifier required at hire.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements; must work in Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assumes the responsibility as outlined in the Occupational Therapists job summary and responsibilities.
• Provides department in-service as requested by management (e.g., journal club presentation, and or regular in-service presentation).
• Serves as a clinical instructor as requested by management.
• Assists in orientation and training of employees as needed.
• Provides consultation to staff.
• May act as a mentor for staff.
• May provide input into the clinical competency of staff.
• Identifies process Improvement opportunities.
• May assist in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care.
• Participates in performance improvement projects or other committees as requested by management.
• May be involved in the clinical competency of COTAs and Rehab Aides.
• May monitor the work of contract therapists and the treatment of patients in Kaiser and non-Kaiser facilities.
• Performs other duties as required within scope of practice.

Basic Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum two (2) years of experience as an occupational therapist required.
