Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. is seeking a Senior NVH Engineer to lead the test and development of Noise and Vibration performance for North American market vehicles. The role involves experimental investigations, data analysis, and collaboration with global teams to ensure customer-focused NVH excellence.

You will work with LMS Test.Lab, ArtemiS, and Matlab to evaluate performance, benchmark competitors, and drive countermeasures from prototype to pilot stages.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of automotive engineering experience.
• 5+ years in NVH development and testing of development vehicles.
• Experience with NVH test equipment and software.

Responsibilities

• Test and develop NVH performance for North American vehicles.
• Conduct Transfer Path Analysis, Modal Analysis, and Sound Quality Analysis.
• Perform NVH subjective evaluations and objective testing; identify root causes and countermeasures.
• Prepare technical reports and presenting findings to teams.

Overview

Sr. NVH Engineer responsible for test and development of Noise and Vibration performance for North American market Hyundai, Kia, Genesis vehicles as part of the NVH group. The group handles Noise, Vibration and Aeroacoustics test and development activities in support of prototype and pilot vehicle development to ensure NVH performance meets or exceeds customer expectations in all road and environmental conditions in North America.

What you will do

• Test and develop the Noise and Vibration performance of North American Market Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles.
• Conduct experimental NVH investigations including Transfer Path Analysis, Modal Analysis, and Sound Quality Analysis in support of prototype and pilot vehicle development.
• Perform NVH and Wind Noise subjective evaluations and objective testing, investigate root causes, develop appropriate countermeasures, and summarize findings in reports.
• Evaluate vehicle NVH performance from the North America customers' perspective.
• Utilize experimental data acquisition systems and NVH analysis software (LMS Test.Lab, HEAD Acoustics ArtemiS, etc.).
• Collaborate with NVH and cross-functional teams to develop and execute test plans, coordinate test vehicles, manage supplier activities, and ensure efficient use of development resources.
• Conduct in-depth benchmarking of competitor vehicles and translate findings into actionable insights, recommended development direction, and preliminary performance targets.
• Analyze customer feedback and quality data with internal and external partners (J.D. Power IQS, Consumer Reports, social media, etc.).
• Interface with Engineering Design Department and counterparts in our R&D Headquarters in Korea; contribute to joint investigations and development activities.
• Support vehicle NVH development activities at the Hyundai California Proving Ground.
• Support North American manufacturing plants with issue identification, troubleshooting and countermeasure implementation related to build, assembly and process variation during pilot and production stages.
• Contribute to the identification, evaluation and development of new NVH technologies, methodologies and strategies to improve performance and competitiveness of current and future Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles.
• Participate in domestic and international drive evaluations, development trips and customer-perception events to assess vehicle NVH performance under a variety of conditions and environments.
• Independently manage assigned NVH projects, ensuring high-quality data, thorough analysis and on-time delivery of technical recommendations.
• Create and present clear, concise technical reports, presentations and project updates to management and cross-functional partners.
• Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record

What you will bring to the role

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study
• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience in the automotive industry
• 5+ years of demonstrated experience developing and testing the NVH performance of development vehicles
• Extensive experience in automotive NVH performance development, including testing, analysis, and system-level optimization
• Experienced with Noise & Vibration test equipment and analysis software including LMS Test.Lab, HEAD Acoustics ArtemiS, and Matlab
• Good understanding of body/chassis systems and automotive manufacturing practices
• Experience with Body on Frame NVH development a plus
• Excellent computer skills and experience in in-vehicle NVH objective measurements
• Knowledgeable with NVH CAE analysis
• Experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving methods
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills
• Flexibility in handling multiple projects and changing priorities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

Physical Demands, Work Environment, Travel Expectations:

• Able to work in a culturally diverse team environment and in harsh climate conditions (Winter -40F, Summer +120F, altitude up to 14,000 ft)
• Travel up to 35% domestically and internationally to support product development and testing
