Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to own design, deployment, and optimization of carrier-grade networks. You will guide engineering decisions, mentor junior staff, and help shape expansion plans with automation and modern platforms.

This hybrid role emphasizes hands-on MPLS/EVPN expertise, Cisco IOS-XR, Linux scripting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable services.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in an ISP/telecommunications or service provider environment.
  • Strong expertise with OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, EVPN, and Segment Routing.
  • Hands-on with Cisco IOS-XR including ASR9000 and NCS platforms.
  • Experience designing, operating and troubleshooting large-scale MPLS networks.
  • Proficient Linux administration and Bash scripting.
  • Experience with Python automation and related tools (Netmiko, NAPALM, Nornir, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of network security principles and system hardening.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive complex technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, provision, and support carrier-grade Internet, Ethernet, MPLS, and SD-WAN services.
  • Create, test, monitor, and continuously improve network configurations and performance.
  • Design and troubleshoot MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, EVPN, and segment routing environments.
  • Implement network security controls and contribute to hardening efforts.
  • Develop automation tools and workflows using Python, Ansible, and Linux scripting.
  • Lead complex network changes and act as escalation point for incidents.
  • Document network architectures, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with planning, operations, and engineering on new technologies.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and outage resolution.

Skills/Must Have:
