Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Sr. Network/Systems Engineer (TS/SCI w/poly) in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and integrating complex data network solutions for enterprise and cloud environments while translating customer requirements into scalable technical designs.

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of Network and/or Systems Engineering experience on similar programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Network/Systems Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph.
  • Experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
  • Experience translating customer requirements into technical designs.
  • Experience designing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining enterprise networks.
  • Experience developing network architecture diagrams, specifications, and design docs.
  • Experience with routers, firewalls, hubs, and gateways.
  • Experience with high-availability and failover designs for enterprise customers.
  • Experience with Cisco technologies including ASA, Nexus, Catalyst, and ASR platforms.
  • Experience with GRE tunnels, MPLS, VPNs, NAT, firewall contexts, and load balancing.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Catalyst 6500 series and Nexus platforms (9332, 9336, 9508).
  • Experience performing redundancy testing in Cisco-based networks.

Sr. Network/Systems Engineer, TS/SCI w/poly

Job Location: US-MD-Annapolis Junction

Responsibilities

The AP Infrastructure Team is seeking a strong Network Engineering and Systems Engineering background to support Cloud Network Operations using modern technologies. Responsibilities include reviewing customer-submitted requirements, performing end-to-end network engineering, and identifying new technical requirements to support mission needs.

The role involves designing, implementing, and integrating complex data network solutions, including enterprise and cloud network architectures. The candidate will be responsible for translating customer requirements into scalable technical designs and ensuring effective integration across systems and platforms.

Additional responsibilities include working closely with engineering and network teams to deliver customer-driven solutions; designing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining enterprise network environments; and producing detailed network architecture documentation and specifications.

The candidate will also provide recommendations for hardware selection, engineering techniques, and tooling to optimize performance and meet both current and future capacity requirements. This includes designing and implementing failover and redundancy solutions for mission-critical environments.

Technical responsibilities further include providing network solutions supporting server infrastructure such as load balancing, VPNs, firewall contexts, and Network Address Translation (NAT). The role also requires experience with network management protocols and advanced routing and switching technologies.

Qualifications
  • Twenty (20) years of experience as a Network Engineer and/or Systems Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. (Five (5) additional years of relevant Network Engineering and/or Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with current polygraph is required.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
  • Experience working with engineering and network teams to translate and fulfill customer requirements.
  • Experience designing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining enterprise networks.
  • Experience developing detailed network architecture diagrams, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Experience across network infrastructure components including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways.
  • Experience designing and implementing failover and high-availability solutions for enterprise customers.
  • Experience with Cisco technologies including ASA appliances, Nexus 9000 series, Cisco 2960-XR switches, Catalyst 6500 series, and ASR 1003/1009/1013 platforms.
  • Experience with GRE tunnels, MPLS, VPNs, NAT, firewall contexts, and load balancing solutions.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Catalyst 6500 series switches and Nexus platforms including 9332, 9336, and 9508.
  • Experience performing redundancy testing across Cisco-based network environments.

Target Salary Range

$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
