Job summary

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. Lead architecture, security, availability, and performance with focus on Cisco routing, Palo Alto firewalls, F5 load balancing, and AWS/Azure networking.

You will guide network standards, ensure security compliance, and provide expert tier-3 support while collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, including 3+ years in a senior/lead role.
  • Strong Cisco routing and switching expertise across LAN/WAN/campus/data center.
  • Advanced knowledge of BGP and OSPF protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PAN-OS, Panorama).
  • Hands-on with F5 BIG-IP LTM/GTM; AWS and Azure networking experience.
  • Security-focused networking, IPSec VPNs, NAC and DNS security concepts.
  • Experience with DNS, routing, high availability, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, deploy, and optimize enterprise network solutions (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs).
  • Develop and maintain network architecture standards, docs, and SOPs.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and business requirements.
  • Subject matter expert for PAN-OS/Panorama, VPNs, threat prevention, and URL filtering.
  • Manage and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP LTM and GTM for application availability.
  • Configure Cisco routing across LAN/WAN, including BGP/OSPF, QoS, HSRP, VRRP.
  • Support Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Wireless LAN Controllers/Access Points.

About the Role

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Operations team. In this role, you will help design, implement, maintain, and optimize our enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

You will serve as a senior technical resource for network architecture, security, availability, and performance, with a particular focus on Cisco networking, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, F5 load balancing, and AWS and Azure cloud networking.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, troubleshooting critical incidents, improving reliability, and building secure, scalable network solutions in a highly collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, deploy, and optimize enterprise network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture standards, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure network solutions align with business requirements, security policies, and compliance standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Palo Alto Networks technologies, including PAN-OS, Panorama, firewall policies, VPNs, threat prevention, and URL filtering.
  • Manage and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP LTM and GTM environments supporting application availability, performance, and resiliency.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco enterprise routing and switching across LAN, WAN, campus, and data center environments, including BGP, OSPF, QoS, HSRP, and VRRP.
  • Support Cisco Catalyst and Nexus environments, as well as enterprise wireless infrastructure including Wireless LAN Controllers and Access Points.
  • Implement and manage network access controls and AAA services using technologies such as Cisco ISE, RADIUS, and TACACS+.
  • Manage corporate DNS infrastructure, including zone and record lifecycle management, Route 53, and security practices such as DNSSEC.
  • Manage the lifecycle of digital SSL/TLS certificates, including requests, installation, renewal, and troubleshooting.
  • Design and support secure, scalable connectivity across AWS and Azure, including VPCs, VNETs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, cloud load balancers, and firewall policies.
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex network incidents and performance issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis for major incidents and implement preventative and corrective measures.
  • Develop and improve network monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance management capabilities using tools such as SolarWinds.
  • Use packet capture, network analysis, and performance tuning techniques to diagnose and resolve complex connectivity issues.
  • Automate routine network engineering and operational tasks using tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Act as a primary technical liaison with ISPs, carriers, cloud providers, and other service providers during outages and complex troubleshooting efforts.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, including at least 3 years operating in a senior or lead-level capacity.
  • Strong expertise in Cisco routing and switching across LAN, WAN, campus, and data center environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including BGP and OSPF.
  • Hands‑on experience implementing, configuring, and managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including PAN-OS and Panorama.
  • Hands‑on experience managing and troubleshooting F5 BIG-IP LTM and GTM.
  • Experience designing and supporting network infrastructure in both AWS and Azure.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, IPSec VPNs, remote‑access technologies, and network access control.
  • Experience with enterprise DNS, routing, switching, high availability, and network performance optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of network monitoring tools, packet capture analysis, logging, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience performing root cause analysis and resolving complex network incidents.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced networking or security certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, or F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator.
  • Experience implementing and managing Cisco ISE, RADIUS, TACACS+, AAA, and NAC solutions.
  • Hands‑on experience with enterprise wireless networking, including Cisco WLCs and Access Points.
  • Experience managing enterprise DNS and implementing DNS security technologies such as DNSSEC.
  • Experience automating network provisioning, configuration, or monitoring using Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Experience with SolarWinds or similar network monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance analysis platforms.
  • Experience designing and supporting complex hybrid and multi-cloud network environments.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated, safety‑critical, or mission‑critical environment.
  • Strong experience coordinating with external service providers and driving complex incidents through resolution.
  • Pilot, aviation experience, or a strong enthusiasm for aviation.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well market and business considerations: Summary Pay Range: $124,000-$152,500
