Job summary

General Dynamics - IT is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with hands-on experience in both classified and unclassified environments. The role emphasizes planning, documenting, and coordinating network assessments to ensure proper connectivity across DLA WAN, NOCs, and DISA NOCs.

The candidate will develop TAPs, produce AARs, and deliver interoperability between complex network ecosystems, while managing multiple projects and delivering detailed design artifacts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; 4 years of experience may substitute.
  • 5+ years of related experience in network engineering.
  • Active Secret clearance with favorable Tier 5 investigation.
  • IAT Level III, CCNP-E, and CCSA certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, perform, and document network assessments and configurations for unclassified and classified environments.
  • Coordinate with government customer to develop TAP for DLA LAN refresh and upgrades.
  • Prepare After Action Reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure interoperability between DLA WAN and DISN network equipment and services.
  • Plan and track implementation tasks and produce supporting configuration artifacts.

Job description

Meaningful work and personal impact:
  • Planning, performing, and documenting laboratory assessments of hardware and software for both the classified and unclassified DISN Services to ensure proper connectivity and operations between the DLA WAN, the DLA's NOC, and DISA's NOCs.
  • Coordinating with the government customer to create a Technology Assessment Plan (TAP) to include the objectives, scope, equipment and configurations, technical approach, procedures, schedules, and roles and responsibilities required to complete the DLA LAN technology refresh and upgrades. These assessments may include independent cost estimates.
  • Preparing After Action Reports (AAR) that document the approach taken, results, recommendations and supporting rationale.
  • Identifying new and emerging network capabilities as well as developing product evaluation and selection criteria.
  • Developing system evaluations methods and procedures.
  • Producing formal documentation of recommendations for executive briefings.
  • Ensuring interoperability between DLA WAN and DISN network equipment and services.
  • Planning and tracking of implementation tasks.
  • Creating necessary supporting configuration artifacts such as network maps, detailed designs, test plans, operations readiness test reports, device configurations, and maintenance processes and procedures.

The Senior Network Engineer must have:

Education: Bachelor's Degree. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in leu of degree.

Experience: 5+ years of related experience.

Security clearance level: Active Secret with favorable Tier 5 investigation.

Certifications: Current IAT Level III, CCNP-E, and CCSA certifications required.

Role requirements:
  • Network engineering experience in unclassified and classified environments.
  • Familiarity with Standard LAN/WAN protocols, BGP, MPLS and LDP in a service provider environment.
  • Experience with network design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with device configuration (multi-vendor environment).
  • Experience with wired, wireless, voice, and video technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple assigned projects and report status and implementation plans.
