Job summary

Rush Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to serve as the technical lead for the company’s network infrastructure, across LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, security, and cloud networking environments.

You will mentor junior engineers and drive network strategy through standards development and technology evaluation. The role emphasizes coordinating with architecture and security teams, leading major infrastructure projects, and owning the NAC platform.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in network engineering.
• Advanced certifications (e.g., HPE Juniper, Cisco CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE, AZ-700, SD-WAN) preferred.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, data center, cloud).
• Develop and maintain network architecture standards, documentation, and procedures.
• Serve as primary escalation point for complex network incidents and drive rapid resolution.
• Lead network infrastructure projects from planning to implementation and upgrades.
• Own NAC platform design, policy enforcement, and system integration.
• Design and support Azure networking solutions (hybrid connectivity, security, cloud services).
• Manage network performance, capacity planning, and vendor relationships.
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-call support and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, data center, and cloud networking.
• Develop and maintain network architecture standards, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex network incidents, driving rapid diagnosis and resolution of critical issues.
• Lead network infrastructure projects, including site deployments, technology migrations, and major upgrades from planning through implementation.
• Own the design, administration, and continuous improvement of the enterprise Network Access Control (NAC) platform, including authentication, policy enforcement, and systems integration.
• Design and support Azure networking solutions, including hybrid connectivity, network security, and cloud infrastructure services.
• Manage network performance, capacity planning, and vendor relationships to ensure reliability, scalability, and service quality.
• Mentor network engineering staff and participate in on-call support and maintenance activities for critical network operations.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
• Additional experience and/or technical training may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in network engineering, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise-scale environments.
• Advanced certifications (e.g., HPE Juniper, Cisco CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE, AZ-700, SD-WAN vendor certifications) are strongly preferred.
• A valid driver’s license may be required, along with a driving record that meets the requirements of the company’s insurance provider
