Job summary

KARL STORZ is seeking a Senior Network Administrator to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our global network infrastructure. This role is hybrid with 2 days from home and 3 days in our Auburn, MA or El Segundo, CA office.

You will lead enterprise networking initiatives across manufacturing, distribution, and corporate sites, collaborate with Information Security, and mentor junior staff while driving automation and modernization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise network engineering or administration experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong routing and switching expertise (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS).
• Hands-on with firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks and Azure cloud connectivity.
• Experience with scripting and automation (Python or PowerShell).

Responsibilities

• Oversee enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, and SD-WAN environments.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex network incidents.
• Administer routing, switching, firewall, VPN, and cloud connectivity across sites.
• Support Zero Trust through segmentation and policy enforcement.
• Implement automation and configuration management to improve ops.
• Maintain proactive monitoring and alerting to prevent impact.
• Partner with IT Security and business stakeholders for audits and remediation.

In this highly visible role, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for maintaining and optimizing enterprise networking environments across manufacturing, distribution, and corporate locations. You will contribute to network architecture improvements, drive operational excellence, and partner closely with Information Security and IT leadership to support a secure, scalable, and resilient technology environment.

What You'll Do

• Oversee and optimize enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, and SD-WAN environments to ensure high availability and performance.


• Lead troubleshooting efforts and root-cause analysis for complex network incidents and critical escalations.


• Administer and enhance routing, switching, firewall, VPN, and cloud connectivity solutions across multiple sites.


• Support Zero Trust initiatives through network segmentation, access control, certificate-based authentication, and security policy enforcement.


• Implement automation and configuration management practices using scripting and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.


• Maintain proactive network monitoring, telemetry, and alerting capabilities to identify issues before they impact users.


• Partner with Information Security, Quality, and business stakeholders to support audits, compliance requirements, and vulnerability remediation.


• Mentor Network Administrators and contribute to long-term network strategy, capacity planning, and infrastructure modernization efforts.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of enterprise network engineering or network administration experience supporting multi-site environments.


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.


• Strong expertise with enterprise routing and switching technologies including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, and spanning tree.


• Hands-on experience administering firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, and Azure cloud connectivity solutions.


• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues using monitoring, packet analysis, and diagnostic tools.


• Experience with scripting and automation technologies such as Python or PowerShell.

Nice to Have

• Industry certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, PCNSE, or Azure Network Engineer Associate.


• Experience with SD-WAN, network access control (NAC), 802.1X, and micro-segmentation.


• Knowledge of manufacturing, OT, IoMT, or regulated industry network environments.
