Job summary

Connsci seeks a Sr. Mobile Device Specialist to support a federal agency in Washington, DC. You will provide Tier I/II mobile device support for smartphones, tablets, and related enterprise mobility services, ensuring secure configuration and policy compliance.

You will deploy devices per baselines, assist with email and remote access, manage MDM platforms, monitor security, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with security and service desk teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting IT service desk operations or mobile device administration in an enterprise or federal environment.
  • 2+ years with enterprise MDM platforms such as VMware Workspace ONE, Microsoft Intune, or MobileIron.
  • 2+ years supporting iOS and Android operating systems.
  • 2+ years troubleshooting mobile connectivity, device configuration, and enterprise mobility applications.
  • 1+ year supporting federal users in a secure enterprise environment, including agency policies and access control.
  • 1+ year documenting incidents in an ITSM platform such as ServiceNow.
  • 1+ year with mobile security controls including encryption, remote wipe, MFA, and secure app access.
  • 1+ year with service providers such as Verizon or AT&T.
  • CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification.
  • Current Secret, Top Secret, DOE Q, or Public Trust High Risk Tier 4 clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier I/II mobile device support for smartphones and tablets.
  • Provision, configure, and deploy mobile devices per baselines and security policies.
  • Assist users with device setup including email, calendar, contacts, secure applications, and remote connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot mobile device issues such as connectivity failures, email sync problems, app errors, and device performance issues.
  • Manage devices using MDM platforms such as VMware Workspace ONE.
  • Monitor devices for compliance with security policies including encryption and updates.
  • Respond to mobile threat alerts and coordinate with cybersecurity teams to remediate incidents.
  • Escalate recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource, mentoring junior staff and coordinating with related teams.
  • Perform remote actions including lock, wipe, reset, and policy enforcement when devices are lost or compromised.
  • Maintain accurate mobile device inventory and lifecycle management.
  • Manage service requests and incidents through ITSM (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions in ITSM.
  • Develop knowledge articles and user-facing documentation for mobile support processes.
  • Provide guidance and training on approved mobile apps and security practices.
  • Support onboarding/offboarding involving mobile devices.

Job description

Connsci is seeking a Sr. Mobile Device Specialist to support a federal agency in Washington, DC. This role provides Tier I/II mobile device support for smartphones, tablets, and related enterprise mobility services, ensuring secure configuration, compliance with mobility policies, and reliable connectivity for agency personnel.

In this role you can expect to:

  • Provide technical support for agency issued mobile devices including smartphones and tablets.
  • Provision, configure, and deploy mobile devices in accordance with agency configuration baselines and security policies.
  • Assist users with device setup including email, calendar, contacts, secure applications, and remote connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot mobile device issues such as connectivity failures, email synchronization problems, application errors, and device performance issues.
  • Support secure remote access solutions including VPN connectivity and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Manage mobile devices using enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms such as VMware Workspace ONE.
  • Monitor mobile devices for compliance with security policies including encryption, operating system updates, and application management.
  • Respond to mobile threat alerts and coordinate with cybersecurity teams to remediate security incidents.
  • Escalate recurring mobile device issues, identify root causes, and recommend process or configuration improvements to reduce future incidents.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for complex mobility issues, providing guidance to junior support staff and coordinating with infrastructure, security, and service desk teams.
  • Perform remote device actions including lock, wipe, reset, and policy enforcement when devices are lost, stolen, or compromised.
  • Maintain accurate mobile device inventory records and support device lifecycle management including provisioning, replacement, and decommissioning.
  • Manage service requests and incidents through the enterprise IT Service Management system (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Document troubleshooting steps, remediation actions, and resolutions within the ITSM platform.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge articles, standard operating procedures, and user-facing documentation for mobile device support processes.
  • Provide guidance and training to users on approved mobile applications and security practices.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities involving mobile devices, including device assignment, access validation, recovery, and secure decommissioning.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting IT service desk operations or mobile device administration in an enterprise or federal environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience with enterprise Mobile Device Management platforms such as VMware Workspace ONE, Microsoft Intune, or MobileIron.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting iOS and Android operating systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience troubleshooting mobile connectivity, device configuration, and enterprise mobility applications.
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting federal users in a secure enterprise environment, including adherence to agency policies, incident handling procedures, and access control requirements.
  • At least 1 year of experience documenting incidents, service requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolution details in an IT Service Management platform such as ServiceNow.
  • At least 1 year of experience with mobile security controls, including encryption, device compliance policies, remote wipe, MFA, and secure application access.
  • At least 1 year of experience with service providers such as Verizon or AT&T
  • CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, or equivalent certification.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience supporting federal government mobility environments.
  • Familiarity with mobile security monitoring tools such as Lookout Mobile Security or other Mobile Threat Defense platforms.
  • Experience supporting mobile security compliance and device lifecycle management.
  • Ability to communicate technical guidance clearly to non-technical users.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to less experienced mobile device support staff.
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity practices, mobile device compliance requirements, and secure remote access environments.
