Job summary

SMR Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead development, implementation, optimization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes for aerospace, commercial, and military products. You will mentor engineers and act as the primary POC for customer projects, driving improvements and strong process control.

You will guide cross-functional teams and ensure compliance with specs and audits, while advancing lean initiatives and cost savings across programs.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Proven experience leading manufacturing engineering projects and initiatives.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising Manufacturing Engineers and technical personnel.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process development, validation, and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Manufacturing Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
  • Provide direction, training, and oversight to manufacturing engineering personnel.
  • Serve as primary POC for customer manufacturing-related projects and new programs.
  • Lead manufacturing activities for customer programs, product launches, and production transfers.
  • Identify process improvements, capacity enhancements, waste reduction, and cost savings.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing processes, equipment, and automation systems.
  • Ensure processes comply with drawings, specs, and customer requirements.
  • Support production through troubleshooting and technical issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain BOMs, BOOs, routers, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Lead tooling and fixture design and implementation.
  • Support audits (AS9100, ISO, customer, regulatory).
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Design, Quality, Operations, PM, Supply Chain, and customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement via Lean and Six Sigma.

Position Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, optimization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes supporting aerospace, commercial, and military products fabricated from metallic and non-metallic materials. This position serves as the technical lead for manufacturing engineering activities, provides leadership and guidance to Manufacturing Engineers, and acts as the primary point of contact for customer-related manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead Manufacturing Engineer and technical mentor for Manufacturing Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
  • Provide direction, guidance, training, and oversight to manufacturing engineering personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for customer manufacturing-related projects and new program introductions.
  • Lead manufacturing activities associated with customer programs, product launches, and production transfers.
  • Lead studies to identify process improvements, capacity enhancements, waste reduction opportunities, and cost savings.
  • Lead evaluation, justification, and implementation of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and automation systems.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with released engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing plans, and customer requirements.
  • Support production through troubleshooting process and technical issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain BOMs, BOOs, routers, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Lead tooling and fixture design and implementation.
  • Support AS9100, ISO, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, Program Management, Supply Chain, and customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Perform MRB authority responsibilities when qualified.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Proven experience leading manufacturing engineering projects and initiatives.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising Manufacturing Engineers and technical personnel.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process development, validation, and optimization.
  • Excellent communication, organization, project management, and customer-facing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Aerospace, defense, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with Epicor or similar ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software.
