Job summary

ATS sortimat USA, LLC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of a large multi-module automation system. The role involves designing cam, servo, and air-operated stations, ensuring functionality, robustness, and cost-effectiveness while following sortimat standards and regulations.

You will create drawings, BOMs, release packages, and participate in design reviews, collaborating with suppliers to find economical solutions and delivering within schedule and budget

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 9+ years of automation experience.
• Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD and 3D SolidWorks or similar CAD systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of a large multi-module automation system.
• Design cam, servo, and air-operated stations, updating existing designs.
• Ensure designs are functional, robust, and cost-effective.
• Incorporate sortimat standards and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare pneumatic and timing diagrams and select sensors.
• Create drawings, BOMs, and organize release packages.
• Participate in internal and customer design reviews.
• Collaborate with suppliers to source cost-effective solutions.
• Work within project schedules and budgets; communicate clearly.

Major Duties

• Lead the development of a large multiple module system and engineering team.
• Design cam, servo, and air operated stations, and to make changes to existing designs.
• Ensure the design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
• Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate sortimat standards and regulatory requirements.
• Research and specify appropriate materials and purchased components.
• Create detail drawings, assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update drawings.
• Participate in internal and customer design reviews.
• To prepare pneumatic and timing diagrams and select appropriate sensors.
• Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
• Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget.
• Problem-solve design or detail issues and update all appropriate documentation.
• Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
• Assimilate well within a team and exhibit objectivity and openness to others views.
• Follow all policy and procedures to maintain ISO9001:2008 & 13485:2003 Certification requirements.
• Prioritizes, plans, and organizes work and workspace.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience

• Greater than nine years of automation experience.
• Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, 3D Solid Works, or similar CAD systems.

Equipment

• Computers, including programs such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Excel, Word, sortimat databases, etc.
• Fax machine, copiers and printers/plotters, etc.
• Inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, dB meters, etc.
