Job summary

Jacobs in New York City seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer with Tunnel Ventilation/HVAC PE to lead design and review of tunnel ventilation, fire life safety and related HVAC systems. You will perform calculations, draft design documents in CAD/BIM, and coordinate with CFD groups and other trades in a client-facing team.

Your impact

Jacobs is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with Tunnel Ventilation/HVAC Professional Engineer to join our team in New York City.

What You'll Do
  • Perform and supervise calculations and detailed design of tunnel ventilation systems, equipment
  • Develop designs of fire life safety systems, managing and coordinate design with other trades, such as electrical, structural and control engineers
  • Provide technical and application support for engineering and design groups and coordinate design with CFD numerical modeling groups
  • Perform CFD and SES modeling and mentor junior engineers to perform analysis.
  • Developing design criteria, defining systems requirements, developing conceptual, preliminary and detailed design documents, completing calculations related to sizing fans, dampers, silencers and other mechanical and tunnel ventilation equipment. Perform pressure drop calculations, cooling and heating load calculations and work with vendors for selecting systems, equipment and instrumentation
  • Perform field inspection, testing and airflow measurements
  • Draft design documents using AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM Revit 3D and other tools
Here\'s what you\'ll need
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering is a minimum.
  • 15 – 25 years of post-graduate professional years of Mechanical tunnel ventilation and HVAC design experience
  • Experience with design of tunnel ventilation fans and other mechanical equipment
  • Experience with inspection and testing of mechanical equipment
  • Experience with CFD and SES modeling tools
  • Computer aided drafting
  • Ability to work in New York office and on-site as needed in a team environment co-located with the customer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Writing reports and documenting calculations, and basis of design
  • Presenting design results and finding to the Clients
  • Ability to adhere to schedule deadlines and budget limitations

The base salary range for this position is $152,000.00 to $230,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
