Job description

Location: Huntsville, Alabama – 315 Bob Heath Dr.

Role Type: Onsite.

Security Clearance: Requires an active and transferable DoD Secret clearance prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is required.

What You Will Do
  • Work autonomously with periodic oversight, advanced knowledge of control mechanism development, and coach lower‑level professionals.
  • Engage in hands‑on hardware work, including engineering builds, hardware integration, tuning, and verification.
  • Access a strong technical learning environment with subject‑matter experts to accelerate growth.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typical requirement: a STEM degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering experience or 3 years of related experience with an advanced degree.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with systems or mechanical engineering of servo controls.
  • Experience developing CAS requirements, architecture, risk, verification and validation, system performance and function, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience with control actuation systems using permanent‑magnet or brush‑less DC motor technology.
  • Experience with feedback control systems, including sizing, testing and integration, design‑for‑manufacturing, kinematic and dynamic simulation and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
  • Proven ability to deconstruct higher‑level tasks into discrete lower‑level work packages.
  • Proficiency in generating free‑body diagrams.
  • Proficiency in engineering processes and procedures.
  • Moderate 3D modeling skills with a commercial software package.
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer/CREO 3‑D modeling and mechanical drawing generation.
  • Experience using MATLAB, Simulink, and dSPACE.
  • Proven design and manufacturing knowledge in machined parts, injection molded parts, hobbing, broaching, sheet‑metal fabrication, BLDC motors, wire harnesses/flex harnesses, corrosion‑resistant steels, and aluminum alloys.
