Job summary

Spectra Tech, Inc. seeks a senior mechanical engineer for our Richland, WA office to support design of mechanical systems for projects.

The candidate should be self-motivated, able to work independently or with a multi-disciplined team, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. Responsibilities include design media development, construction drawings, and specifications, plus support during construction, start-up and testing phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 10–15 years of engineering experience is required.
• Licensed as a professional engineer in Washington State or ability to become licensed within one year.

Responsibilities

• Work independently or under supervision with other engineers and designers to develop design media such as analyses for equipment sizing and construction drawings.
• Develop or review design media to be issued for construction, including HVAC, confinement ventilation, and process piping.
• Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, procurement and construction specifications, test plans and procedures.
• Provide construction, start-up and testing support, including procurement support, submittal reviews, RFIs, engineering changes and acceptance tests.

Overview:

Spectra Tech, Inc. is seeking candidates to fill a senior mechanical engineering position in the Richland, Washington Office. In this position, the candidate will perform duties to support design of various mechanical systems as required by the needs of projects. Candidate must be self-motivated, have a strong willingness to learn, be able to work independently as well as with a multi-disciplined team, and have excellent organizational and communication skills.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities will include working independently and/or under the direct supervision of licensed professional engineers as well as working with other mechanical engineers and mechanical designers/drafters to develop design media including analyses for equipment sizing, construction drawings, and specifications. Candidate will be responsible for development and/or review of design media that will be issued for construction. Design media may include but is not limited to:

• HVAC Systems
• Confinement ventilation systems for nuclear facilities
• Process Piping
• Detailed fabrication and construction drawings
• Procurement specifications
• Construction specifications
• Test Plans and Procedures

This position will also involve providing support during construction, start-up and testing phases of projects including procurement support, submittal reviews, responding to requests for information, documenting engineering changes, and writing acceptance test procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 10-15 years of engineering experience is required.
• Demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.
• Candidate must undergo and successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
• Licensed as a professional engineer in Washington State or the ability to become licensed within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Engineering licensure
• Project management experience for design projects
• Experience with design projects at a consulting engineering firm.
• Engineering experience related to a Department of Energy Site, preferably the Hanford Site.
• Engineering experience at a nuclear facility.
• Experience with design and analysis of mechanical systems.
