Job Overview:

Tactacam is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical development of our next-generation camera products. In this pivotal role, you will apply advanced engineering expertise and leadership to influence design direction, optimize mechanical performance, and deliver innovative solutions that set new standards in outdoor and security technology. This is a hands-on, high-impact position that will drive the evolution of Tactacam's product offerings and play a key role in shaping our future roadmap.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead Product Development: Spearhead the mechanical design and development of complex components and systems across multiple camera platforms, with a strong focus on innovation, performance, and scalability.
2. Advanced Mechanical Design: Utilize cutting-edge CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and simulation tools to develop robust, high-precision designs from concept through production.
3. Prototyping & Validation: Lead rapid prototyping efforts and oversee detailed testing protocols to validate design intent, ensure mechanical integrity, and meet environmental and regulatory standards.
4. Materials Engineering: Select and validate high-performance materials that meet demanding conditions including impact resistance, temperature variation, and outdoor exposure.
5. Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Integrate DFM and DFA principles early in the design phase to streamline manufacturing, reduce cost, and ensure product quality at scale.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with electrical engineers, industrial designers, firmware developers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
7. Mentorship & Guidance: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, sharing knowledge and driving excellence across the mechanical engineering team.
8. Innovation & Research: Stay on the leading edge of mechanical engineering trends and technologies; identify and implement strategic advancements that keep Tactacam at the forefront of the industry.
9. Documentation & Standards: Own the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation including technical drawings, design specs, BOMs, and validation reports.

Qualifications

Requirements:

1. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
2. Experience: 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a strong focus on product development, preferably in consumer electronics or ruggedized outdoor equipment.
3. Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software; experience with FEA, thermal analysis, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
4. Innovation-Driven: Proven track record of solving complex engineering problems through innovative design, rapid iteration, and data-driven decision-making.
5. Prototype-to-Production: Expertise in transitioning products from concept to mass production, including experience working with contract manufacturers and overseas suppliers.
6. Project Leadership: Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize, manage risk, and drive multiple projects to completion in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
7. Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
