Job summary

Bechtel Global Corporation in Chandler, AZ is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design professional to plan, develop, review mechanical design work, produce drawings, and prepare design estimates for projects. • Knowledge of Bechtel design guides and BSAPs (Bechtel Standard Computer Applications)

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a mechanical design group on projects of medium size or with global scope.
• Produces drawings and documentation including earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing.
• Coordinates with mechanical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
• Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to management.
• Prepares or oversees mechanical design estimates and work plans within project scope, schedule and budget.
• Develops Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs) and Bechtel design guides.
• Coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval on phases of work.
• Reviews key mechanical drawings, calculations and bid summaries.
• Mentors junior designers and drafters.
• Ensures designs comply with installation codes, regulations and standards.

Job Summary

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review mechanical design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure mechanical designs comply with all regulations and standards.

Major Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a small-size Mechanical design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit
• Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing
• Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of Mechanical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters
• Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
• Prepares or oversees the preparation of Mechanical design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
• Develops Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices
• Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work
• Reviews key Mechanical engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries
• Mentors Mechanical designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
• Ensures Mechanical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards

Education and Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
