Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Sr Mechanical Designer to lead mechanical design and tooling for military applications at our Wilmington, MA facility. You will generate high quality NX CAD data and drawings, ensure GD&T compliance, and collaborate with engineers on DFMA improvements.

A Secret clearance is preferred. The role requires 10+ years in mechanical design, exposure to tooling/handling equipment, and the ability to mentor junior staff in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High school, trade school or higher; experience using UG NX CAD Tool.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor/train junior level personnel.
  • Familiarity with machine shop practices related to manufacturability is preferred.
  • Familiarity with military hardware and fasteners is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generate high quality 2D and 3D CAD files in NX.
  • Prepare and update detail design drawings, assembly drawings, Indented Parts Lists for military applications.
  • Apply ANSI Y14.5 GD&T, military standards, manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to research, analyze and implement design solutions with DFMA.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis calculations.

Job Summary:

Textron has need for a full‑time Mechanical Engineering Specialist with a minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical and specialized tooling/handling equipment design. The candidate should be comfortable as a cognizant designer of mechanical systems for military applications. The candidate should be familiar with manufacturing environments and understand the tooling and equipment needed to aid fabrication and assembly. The candidate should also be well versed in Siemens NX CAD design software and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Job Description:
  • Generate high quality 2D and 3D CAD files in NX
  • Prepare and update detail design drawings, assembly drawings, Indented Parts Lists primarily for military applications.
  • Applies the following in the creation of technical data packages: ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing, military standards and specifications, manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to research, analyze and implement design solutions with attention to design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis calculations.
Qualifications

  • High school, trade school or higher, previous training or experience using UG NX CAD Tool
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is

$36.11 - $54.11 per hour.
