Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Sr Mechanical Designer to join its Weapon Systems team at Hill AFB, Utah. You will contribute as a cognizant designer for mechanical systems used in military applications, leveraging NX CAD to create robust, manufacturable solutions.

The role requires 10+ years of experience, GD&T knowledge, and strong collaboration with engineers. You will generate detailed drawings, perform tolerance analyses, mentor junior staff, and ensure designs meet military standards and DFMA

Job Summary:

Textron has need for a full-time Mechanical Engineering Specialist with a minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical and specialized tooling/handling equipment design. The candidate should be comfortable as a cognizant designer of mechanical systems for military applications. The candidate should be familiar with manufacturing environments and understand the tooling and equipment needed to aid fabrication and assembly. The candidate should also be well versed in Siemens NX CAD design software and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Job Description:

• Generate high quality 2D and 3D CAD files in NX
• Prepare and update detail design drawings, assembly drawings, Indented Parts Lists primarily for military applications.
• Applies the following in the creation of technical data packages: ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing, military standards and specifications, manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to research, analyze and implement design solutions with attention to design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis calculations.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

• Demonstrated skills using Siemens NX (version 10.0 or greater) required preferred.
• High school, trade school or higher, previous training or experience using UG NX CAD Tool
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
• Good communication skills
• Ability to mentor/train junior level personnel
• Familiarity with machine shop practices related to manufacturability is preferred.
• Familiarity with military hardware and fasteners is preferred.
