Job summary

Draper in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Senior Mechanical CAD Designer to create layouts and drawings for fixtures and test equipment. You will work with engineers to improve manufacturing systems and ensure designs meet specs and MIL-STD-31000.

Requires 10+ years of 3D CAD, SolidWorks and/or CREO, 3DX PLM experience, and ability to obtain a government security clearance. Onsite role with competitive base salary and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Requires a Technical or Associate's degree in drafting, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
• 10+ years of experience designing in 3D CAD and producing 2D drawings using SolidWorks and/or CREO.
• Experience in a defense contracting environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations on the proposed machine before completing technical drawings.
• Sketch and draw up designs using input from engineers and architects on the team.
• Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysis.
• Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations and client standards.
• Submit drawings to upper management and construction teams.
• Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the equipment is built properly and according to design specifications.
• Finalize designs and send prints to the production department.
• Serve as a mentor to junior staff.
