Job summary

Axon seeks a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer in Scottsdale, AZ to lead product design from concept to manufacturing. You will own subsystems and collaborate with product, electrical, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-end electronics.

The role requires 12+ years in design, proficiency with Creo, and strong DFMA skills, plus the ability to travel internationally and communicate effectively across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • L9: Minimum 12 years of product design experience in high-end consumer electronic products.
  • Experience providing technical leadership for teams of 2-5 mechanical engineers.
  • Proficiency with Creo or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Knowledge in the design of plastic injection molded, stamped metal, die-cast, and machined parts.
  • Familiarity with adhesives and bonded joint design.
  • Experience designing for a high level of dust/water ingress protection.
  • Experience designing thermal management solutions for dissipating heat from electronics.
  • Experience with PCB/PCBA flex circuit and other electro-mechanical integration.
  • Strong DFM/DFA skills, with emphasis on part/assembly tolerance management, to ensure robust designs for high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience collaborating with external consultants, vendors and manufacturers, including willingness to travel internationally.
  • Ability to interpret product requirements and translate into quantifiable engineering deliverables.
  • Experience preserving Industrial Design and UX intent in mechanical design implementation.
  • Effective communication and strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize conflicting design constraints through analysis, testing, and creativity.
  • Collaboration with peers in a candid cross-functional team culture.
