Job summary

Lenovo is seeking a senior Data Center Mechanical Architect to define next-generation mechanical architectures across servers, HPC, storage, networking and AI systems for hyperscale and cloud data centers. You will work within the CSP Group to architect chassis, model thermal properties, and set supplier specs.

Responsibilities include collaboration with suppliers and the China Product Delivery team, cost interlocking with the global supply chain, and direct customer engagement when required.

Qualifications

• At least 10+ years' experience in Mechanical/Thermal design.
• Experience using mechanical/thermal design tools including PTC Creo, Pro/E, Flowtherm, etc.
• Very strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration ability.

• Define next-generation mechanical architectures for hyperscale and cloud data centers.
• Architect new mechanical chassis and/or sub-assemblies for future product designs.
• Model and analyze the thermal properties of designs.
• Develop thermal/mechanical specifications for suppliers.
• Collaborate with suppliers and the China-based Product Delivery team on design execution.
• Work with Lenovo Global Supply Chain to optimize design cost.
• Provide ongoing technical consultation to the China Product Delivery team.
• Engage directly with customers as required.

About Our Team

We are hiring a senior Data Center Mechanical Architect to work in Lenovo’s Cloud Service Provider Group (CSP). This role will define next-generation mechanical architectures across General Purpose Servers, High Performance Computing (HPC), High-Availability Storage, Networking, and Accelerator/AI systems for hyperscale and cloud data centers.

What You’ll Do

• As part of the Server/Storage Architecture team, you will be responsible for:
• Understanding of current and future mechanical and thermal design trends
• Architecting new mechanical chassis and/or sub-assemblies to be used on future product designs
• Understanding and modeling the thermal properties of new designs
• Developing thermal/mechanical specifications for suppliers
• Working with suppliers and our China-based Product Delivery team on the execution/development of mechanical/thermal designs
• Interlocking with Lenovo Global Supply chain to optimize design cost
• Providing on-going advice consult with the China Product Delivery team on technical issue resolution
• Direct customers engagement

Basic Qualifications

• At least 10+ years' experience in Mechanical/Thermal design
• Experience using mechanical/thermal design tools including PTC Creo, Pro/E, Flowtherm, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Very strong communication skills
• Strong knowledge of Server/Storage Systems and their components
• Experience working/interacting with multi-national and cross-functional teams
• Fluent in using Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills
