Job summary

Greenpoint Technologies is seeking a Material Planner to bridge Engineering and Supply Chain, owning BOMs in the MRP system and driving procurement for aircraft interior components. You will interpret engineering drawings, calculate material needs, and propel on-time production through effective planning and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 7 years of related aerospace experience, a strong understanding of BOMs and procurement, and compliance

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) in the MRP system to initiate purchasing for all materials and parts for custom aircraft interiors.
  • Review and evaluate engineering drawings, quantify material needs, and ensure BOM accuracy across planning and procurement.
  • Lead the planning department to support production schedules and facilitate on-time delivery.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and coaching to staff; drive continuous improvement in material planning processes.

Job description

Serves as a liaison between Engineering and Supply Chain Management for the review and evaluation of engineering documentation prior to and after formal drawing release. Validates Engineering material callouts, processing techniques, suggests alternative/substitute materials, and possible in-house part availability. Provides feedback to engineering in understanding andoptimizingmaterial procurement schedules through materialselectionand manufacturability of allaircraftinterior components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops andmaintainsthe Bill of Materials in the MRP system from engineering drawings toinitiatepurchasing requirements for all materials,purchasedparts, equipment, and other items necessary for the manufacture of customaircraftinteriors.
  • Reviews and evaluates engineering drawings, calculates quantities and types of material, parts, or other itemsrequired, builds, andmaintainsthe Bill of Material in the MRP system.
  • Leads planning department to support production andfacilitateschedule.
  • Provides training, mentoring, and coaching to new and/or less experienced staff.
  • Evaluatesengineering drawings for inaccuracies in material/component specification, prior to or after formal engineering release,utilizingknowledge of basic engineering and manufacturing principles/techniques.
  • Determinespracticality of design, materialselection, material availability, available tooling, fabrication processes, finishcalloutsand structure of project/program Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Creates comprehensive listings of all material needs for program(s) in Planning BOM format for all materials and parts, from released engineering drawings, to include time phased delivery of materials which supportaircraftmodification/installation schedules.
  • Track engineering issues, drawing errors and provide both real-time feedback, as well as a summary report of corrections to engineering/engineering managementin order tohelpidentifydrawing inaccuracies and root causes, with a goal of improving drawing accuracy.
  • Schedules material/service deliveries based onaircraftinstallation program modification schedules.
  • Identifies, recommends, and coordinates alternate and substitute parts for cost and schedule improvement between engineering, procurement, program management and modification facilities and installation sites.
  • Prepares or authorizes preparation of purchase requisitions,utilizingthe Planning BOM toestablishprogram material requirements.
  • Reviews Engineering Advanced Material Requests, Engineering Parts Requests, and/or Preliminary Parts Lists and tracks total material requirements for eachaircraftinstallation program.
  • Create andmaintainInventory Item main table data in Dynamics AX, ensuring accuracy of materialpart numbers, quantities, on-dock delivery requirements and associated AX data inputs for parts planning, procurement, and inventory reconciliation activities.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification

Bachelor's degree and 7 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aerospace background andaircraftinterior industry experiencerequired.

Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company, foreign government, foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

  • Tenured experience with the procurement of raw materials, parts, and commodities related to VIPaircraftinteriors.
