Job summary

Teradyne Robotics is building a new US Operations hub in Wixom, MI. We seek a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the move from NPI to high-volume production for our Universal Robots product line.

You will develop robust process parameters, collaborate across engineering, quality, supplier, and global teams, and mentor staff to ensure reliable assembly methods and equipment success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in a manufacturing environment producing complex machinery, preferably robotics.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies in manufacturing and test processes.
  • Knowledge of DFM, DFT, LEAN, Six Sigma, RCCA and failure analysis.
  • Ability to develop assembly process flows from solid models and BOMs.
  • Experience creating and maintaining detailed assembly instructions and digitized processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical assemblies and equipment maintenance needs.
  • Experience developing mechanical tools and fixtures for assemblies.
  • Strong collaboration across engineering, quality, supplier, and global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition of products from New Product status to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Develop robust, repeatable process parameters and controls.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and cross-functional teams to resolve production issues.
  • Build and evaluate electro-mechanical assemblies and identify risks.
  • Support equipment qualification, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Review yield reports with Quality to drive RCCA and corrective actions.
  • Mentor and train personnel on proper assembly methods and best practices.
  • Sustain alignment and share best practices across sites in Denmark and China.

We are opening a new US Operations hub in Wixom, MI. As our Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a lead role in supporting production activities at the new site and help ensure a seamless transition from new product introduction to high-volume manufacturing for our Universal Robots product line.

  • Lead the transition of products from New Product status to high-volume manufacturing in collaboration with New Product teams.
  • Develop robust, repeatable, and reproducible process parameters and process controls.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and cross-functional teams to identify, resolve, and prevent production and assembly issues.
  • Build and evaluate electro-mechanical assemblies to develop assembly process flows and identify potential assembly risks.
  • Support the design, qualification, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, assembly tools, fixtures, procedures, and packaging solutions.
  • Partner with Quality teams to review yield reports, drive RCCA activities, and close corrective actions.
  • Mentor and train personnel on proper product assembly methods and manufacturing best practices.
  • Sustain alignment and share best practices across sites in Denmark and China.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience creating and maintaining detailed product assembly instructions, process documentation, and digitized assembly and test processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, process-related issues, and equipment maintenance needs.
  • Experience developing mechanical tools and fixtures used in the assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical products.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an eagerness to understand how products are assembled and a willingness to offer ideas for improving manufacturing processes and product design.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, quality, supplier, and global manufacturing teams.
