A Day in Your Life at MKS: Vacuum Solution, a division of MKS Instruments, is looking for a self‑motivated individual with hands on capability and good knowledge of assembly techniques and automation to join our team as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. In this role, you will collaborate with your counterparts in continuous improvement by identifying automation and implementing solutions for process optimization and often act as a technical leader for platform integration. Additionally, you will work with the Operations team and other Manufacturing Engineers to establish and oversee manufacturing processes across various production areas.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands‑on manufacturing engineering support for released products; interface with cross‑functional groups to support production and resolve manufacturing and quality issues
- Set up and automate manufacturing processes for existing and new product introductions, estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process improvements on new or existing product lines
- Utilize Lean methodologies to refine manufacturing methods, processes, and use tools to improve and streamline production processes for new and existing products using Value Stream Mapping, 6S and Kaizen techniques
- Utilize problem‑solving tools and statistical techniques in problem solving and driving corrective actions
- Create, update and maintain manufacturing process documentation in a manufacturing execution system (MES) environment to ensure all work/test instructions and forms are properly controlled and to the latest revision
- Setup and verify BOMs and establish routings with associated labor standards for new part numbers
- Train and certify assembly operators on manufacturing process design tools and fixtures for new and existing product lines
- Coordinate time studies, line balancing for process optimization
Qualifications
- BS/MS in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical/Software engineering
- 3+ years of experience in a mixed production environment
- Knowledge of and experience with structured problem‑solving tools and techniques
- Knowledge of and experience with SPC tools and process control implementation
- Knowledge of and experience with Lean manufacturing methodologies
- 1 year of experience with demonstrated expertise troubleshooting and solving production problems with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of a modern programming language, such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL
- Lean manufacturing & Six Sigma Green belt is a plus
- Knowledge in measurement equipment
- Knowledge of SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Knowledge of PowerBI, Oracle, Minitab
- Knowledge of MES and product lifecycle management systems
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
- Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
- Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 20 lbs
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for 40% of the time

- Noise level in the work environment is usually average
Compensation
- Salary Pay Range: $80,909 - $150,259 per year
- Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined
