BlackLine, a leader in finance automation, seeks a Senior Manager to lead revenue accounting and billing. You will drive end-to-end revenue recognition under ASC 606 in a fast-growing SaaS environment, manage a five-person team, and partner with Sales, Legal, and Finance leadership to optimize processes and controls.
You will shape billings, use of NetSuite/Zuora, and automation initiatives while ensuring SOX compliance and real-time insights for the business.
The Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting & Billing will lead the Company’s end-to-end revenue accounting and billing operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP and ASC 606. This leader will manage a team of five professionals and serve as a strategic partner to Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Revenue Operations, Financial Systems, Collections, and Finance leadership. A defining part of this role is transforming how revenue accounting and billing work gets done. The ideal candidate is a technically strong accountant who is equally energized by AI, automation, and process redesign. You will identify and deliver opportunities to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, accelerate the close, and give the business real-time revenue insights, all while keeping the integrity of the financial statements as the first priority. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment, is comfortable challenging “the way it’s always been done,” and can balance innovation with the discipline required of a publicly traded company.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA strongly preferred. 5+ years of combined public accounting and industry experience, with significant revenue recognition and technical accounting experience. Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 within SaaS, subscription, and usage-based business models. 3+ years of people management experience, including direct supervision of accounting professionals. Hands-on experience with billing and revenue systems (e.g., Zuora, NetSuite) and the end-to-end quote-to-cash process. Solid understanding of SOX controls and experience working with internal and external auditors. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-accounting audiences.
