Job description

Job ID: 10593979 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Amazon's Global Environmental Assurance and Protection team works to make Amazon the global benchmark for environmental excellence across our operations. As Senior Manager, Global Air & Energy Programs, you own Amazon's global air & energy strategy and are accountable for steering Amazon toward that benchmark. That scope covers air quality and emissions compliance, air permitting and greenhouse gas reporting, energy management and efficiency, and emerging regulatory obligations. You will build and govern global programs from multi-year planning through real-time execution. You lead a team that turns regulatory requirements into durable, auditable field execution.

The Senior Manager, Global Air & Energy Programs establishes and maintains cross-organizational alignment on a unified compliance vision across all regions, business units, and dependency stakeholders. This leader develops multi-year compliance plans that account for emerging regulations, manages program budgets, and holds internal and external stakeholders accountable to compliance milestones through structured program controllership mechanisms. They embed air and energy compliance objectives across organizations so that environmental accountability becomes part of day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in air and energy regulatory compliance combined with the strategic leadership capability to drive accountability across VP-level organizations. They communicate technical compliance requirements clearly to executive, operational, and legal audiences, and use data and business intelligence to drive continuous improvement at scale.

This role requires independent judgment, a high tolerance for ambiguity, and the ability to define the right organizational structure, mechanisms, and strategy to meet long-term compliance objectives in a dynamic, high-growth business environment. If you are motivated by solving complex regulatory problems at scale and building the compliance infrastructure to match, this role is for you.

Key job responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain cross-organizational alignment on a unified air and energy compliance vision, spanning all in-scope business units and integrating objectives into OP1, OP2, and quarterly planning cycles.
  • Own the strategic air and energy program roadmap, including air quality, emissions, air permitting, greenhouse gas, and energy management compliance programs and field execution frameworks.
  • Develop and govern multi-year operating plans, program budgets, and resource allocation strategies that balance immediate compliance obligations against long-term infrastructure investment.
  • Build and operate program controllership mechanisms that drive speed, quality, and accountability across internal and external stakeholders, proactively surfacing and mitigating air and energy compliance risk.
  • Communicate compliance strategy, program status, and escalation risks clearly and concisely to Director and VP-level audiences across Operations, Legal, Finance, and Technology.
  • Partner with Amazon Legal, state and local regulators, environmental consultants, and technology teams to resolve air and energy compliance barriers, accelerate engineered solutions, and reduce manual dependency in compliance execution.
  • Define, implement, and govern KPI and compliance metric frameworks that provide real-time visibility into air and energy program performance, milestone achievement, and regulatory posture across all business units.
  • Lead the talent management lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, and structured development planning that builds organizational depth and capability.
  • Oversee work performed by third-party contractors, consultants, and inspection vendors, holding external partners accountable to program milestones and quality standards through structured audit and governance mechanisms.
  • Work autonomously in a highly ambiguous, high-stakes regulatory environment, exercising independent judgment to define the right strategy, structure, and mechanisms for delivering compliance outcomes at scale.
  • Embed air and energy compliance objectives into day-to-day operational rhythms.
Basic Qualifications
  • - 10+ years of risk management, audit, legal, compliance or related field work including engaging with external stakeholders experience
  • - Experience in risk management, audit, legal, compliance or a related field including engaging with external stakeholders
  • - Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
  • - Experience working within a global company, with multi-country responsibilities
  • - Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or related field
  • - 7+ years of team management with 6 or more direct reports experience
Preferred Qualifications

  • - Professional credential where applicable, for example a Professional Engineer (PE), a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or an equivalent professional environmental certification
