Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field and two years of experience in data science or a closely related role.
• Experience analyzing large datasets from multiple sources across healthcare/retail.
• Experience with ML, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL; SAS also acceptable.
• Experience with visualization tools (PowerBI or Tableau).
• Ability to design data models and analytical solutions; knowledge of NLP/ML tools is a plus.

Position Summary

Leads data science team to develop insights from data in order to investigate complex business problems through a range of data preparation, modeling, analysis and/or visualization techniques, including predictive analysis, business intelligence, pattern recognition, operational effectiveness and/or economic forecasting. Directs activities of data scientists, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to drive excellence in data science projects and deliverables. Defines data science strategies, methodologies, and best practices to solve complex healthcare challenges and drive innovation. Counsels the team in data exploration, analysis, and modeling techniques to derive actionable insights and inform healthcare decision‑making processes. Directs activities of data science projects, including resource allocation, budget management, and timeline adherence, ensuring successful project execution. Analyzes organization to strategize and identify opportunities to leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence in healthcare applications. Advises senior leadership and stakeholders on data‑driven strategies and solutions, providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis. Collaborates with multiple departments, including clinicians, researchers, and Information Technology (IT) professionals, to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables. Manages team performance through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional services and engagement, motivation, and team development. Delivers a culture of learning and growth within the data science team, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development opportunities. Hybrid position: remote work permitted but must live within commuting distance of designated office location and remain available to report to office as needed and required.

Requirements

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Position requires two (2) years of experience in each of the following:

• Analyzing large data sets from multiple data sources;
• Analytics experience within the retail and/or healthcare industries;
• Machine learning, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling;
• Programming in R, Hadoop, or Python;
• R, Python, or SQL;
• SAS or SQL programming languages;
• Visualization tools, including PowerBI or Tableau;
• Coding in Python, R, SAS, Julia, Gurobi, or CPLEX;
• Designing data models and solutions for analytical and reporting use cases; and Machine Learning or NLP (Scikit-Learn, SpaCity, Pytorch, or Spark NLP).

Minimum Experience

• Team supervision, including assessing employees performance, providing feedback and training to improve work quality;
• Development of quality assurance standard to ensure compliance meets industry standards; and

Provide analysis and proposals for improvements to existing methods, systems and procedures such as operations, communications & report management.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $140650.00/year to $260590.00/year.

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
