Job summary

MongoDB is seeking a Senior Manager of Corporate Development & Ventures to drive the company’s inorganic growth strategy. You will own M&A execution end-to-end, independently sourcing and evaluating deals and managing them through LOI, closing, and integration with cross-functional teams including Finance, Legal, HR, Product, Engineering, and Leadership.

You will partner with the Sr. Director and VP on high-stakes transactions.

MongoDB is hiring a Senior Manager, Corporate Development & Ventures to help drive our inorganic growth strategy - partnering closely with our Sr. Director of Corporate Development & Ventures on M&A and strategic investment activity.

This role is for someone who wants to own M&A execution end-to-end. You'll independently source, evaluate, and run a steady pipeline of deals, partnering with the Sr. Director and VP on our highest-stakes transactions. Once a deal signs an LOI, you become the day-to-day driver - the person Finance, Legal, HR, and the business count on to get it through close and integration.

You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, People, and other business stakeholders to help shape decisions about MongoDB's position in data infrastructure and AI. The role sits primarily in Corporate Development, with regular exposure to our Ventures platform.

What you'll bring

• Has 4-8 years of experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Venture Capital
• Has meaningful experience running deal workstreams and is ready to own transactions end-to-end with real autonomy
• Is comfortable operating independently, while knowing when to bring in the Sr. Director, VP, or other senior leaders
• Demonstrates strong judgment, particularly under time pressure and incomplete information
• Holds a high bar for analytical rigor, but knows when to move without perfect data
• Can engage credibly with technical leaders while maintaining a clear business perspective
• Is direct, low-ego, and accountable — focused on outcomes, not process

What you will do

Own Deals, End-to-End

• Independently source, evaluate, and run your own pipeline of M&A and investment opportunities, from initial engagement through LOI
• Build and pressure-test valuation, structure, and strategic rationale, partnering with the Sr. Director and VP on the most complex or highest-stakes calls
• Know when to move on your own judgment and when to elevate

Be the Function's Go-To Person from LOI Through Close

• Once a deal signs an LOI, step in as the primary driver across every Corp Dev workstream to close - including the Sr. Director and VP's most strategic transactions
• Run tight, focused diligence across technical, product, commercial, and financial dimensions
• Coordinate structuring and cross-functional input so nothing stalls between LOI and closure
• Bring structure and clarity to the ambiguity that shows up in the final stretch of a deal
• Serve as the primary driver through LOI signing, partner with the Integration Team and cross-functional stakeholders on integration planning, then hand off cleanly to the Integration team

Convert Market Insight into Action

• Partner with the Ventures team to surface actionable opportunities from a strong, continuously refreshed pipeline
• Maintain a precise understanding of the competitive and technological landscape
• Move quickly and flag high-conviction opportunities to the Sr. Director and VP

Operate Effectively with Senior Stakeholders

• Partner directly with Product and Engineering leaders on strategic fit and integration
• Work with Finance and Legal to structure and close transactions efficiently
• Communicate clearly and concisely with stakeholders across the business, including senior leadership

What Success Looks Like

• You independently own and close well-scoped transactions end-to-end
• Once a deal hits LOI, you’re the person the Sr. Director and cross-functional partners rely on to drive it to close
• MongoDB runs multiple live deals simultaneously without losing focus or rigor
• You’ve built the track record and judgment to take on progressively larger and more strategic transactions
• The overall quality and effectiveness of the Corporate Development function increases materially

Position Expectations

• Based in San Francisco, New York, or Austin
• Reports to the Sr. Director of Corporate Development & Ventures
• Consistent local office presence, with travel as required for transactions and relationship development

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB's total compensation and benefits package.
