Job summary

Yahoo is seeking a hands-on Sr Manager, Corporate Accounting to own personnel accounting, including payroll, benefits, and long-term incentive and bonus accruals, and to lead a team of accounting professionals through the monthly and quarterly close.

You will collaborate with Finance, HR, FP&A, Legal, Procurement, and Finance Systems, leveraging Oracle Financials and AI to drive efficiency while strengthening internal controls and SOX compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience in a large public or global company.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, and corporate accounting operations.
• Experience with Oracle Financials or a similar ERP.
• Advanced Excel and ability to work with large data sets.
• Experience using automation and AI tools to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting and close activities for payroll, benefits, LTIP, and restructuring.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close for non-personnel accounting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses per GAAP/SOX.
• Maintain SOX controls, documentation, and walkthrough support.
• Partner with Finance, HR, FP&A, Legal, Procurement, and Finance Systems.
• Serve as primary contact for auditors on assigned areas.
• Drive automation and AI adoption using Oracle Financials and Gemini/Claude; validate AI output.
• Document and improve accounting policies and workflows.
• Support broader controllership initiatives and special projects.

The team plays a critical role in the monthly and quarterly close while continuously improving how accounting work gets done through automation, scalable processes, and modern financial systems.

Position Overview

Yahoo is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Sr Manager, Corporate Accounting to own Personnel accounting including Payroll accounting, Benefits, Restructuring, Long Term Incentive Comp, and Bonus accruals, while leading a team of 2 accounting professionals responsible for the monthly and quarterly close process. This is a managerial role reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Accounting. You'll own your areas end to end, while partnering closely with Finance, HR, FP&A, Legal, Procurement, and Finance Systems. You'll bring strong technical accounting depth and a continuous improvement mindset, using Oracle Financials, automation, and AI to reduce manual work and strengthen the control environment.

What You’ll Do

• Manage and oversee accounting and close activities for key corporate accounting functions, including payroll, benefits, long term incentive and restructuring accounting.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for non personnel accounting
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses in compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and internal accounting policies.
• Maintain and strengthen SOX key controls, including control documentation, evidence, and walkthrough support.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, HR, FP&A, Legal, Procurement, and Finance Systems on personnel cost questions, forecasting inputs, and Oracle Financials issues.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external auditors on assigned areas.
• Drive automation and AI adoption to eliminate manual work, using Oracle Financials alongside tools such as Gemini and Claude, and validate AI-generated output before it is relied upon.
• Document and improve accounting policies, procedures, and standard operating workflows.
• Support broader controllership initiatives and special projects as needed.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a large public company or similarly complex global organization.
• CPA preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance, and corporate accounting operations.
• Experience working with Oracle Financials or a comparable enterprise ERP.
• Oracle Financials experience is strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
• Demonstrated experience using automation and AI tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
• Ability to manage tight close deadlines independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Compensation

The compensation for this position ranges from $110,625.00 - $230,625.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
