Job summary

Monks is seeking a Sr Manager for Commerce Strategy to lead day-to-day commerce relationships, develop growth plans, and turn raw retail and advertising data into strategic decisions. You will partner with cross-functional teams to optimize Amazon channels and broader retail media networks, driving YoY growth for flagship clients.

The role requires strong analytical, presentation, and mentorship skills, with an ability to navigate a fast-evolving e‑commerce landscape and AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in commerce, retail media, or related consulting with proven results.
  • 3+ years hands-on Amazon Vendor/Seller Central experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent communication with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Self-starter managing multiple projects with high standards.
  • Comfortable in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and AI adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Own daily commerce strategy for accounts and annual growth plans.
  • Design ad strategy with activation team across Sponsored Products/Brands/Display/DSP.
  • Connect advertising to retail fundamentals: pricing, promotions, inventory, and supply chain.
  • Lead daily/weekly client interactions and share performance with next steps.
  • Build monthly/quarterly business reviews tying ads to outcomes.
  • Analyze data from Amazon platforms to identify growth opportunities.
  • Create and maintain sales and inventory forecasts; flag revenue risks.
  • Support negotiations with Amazon and other partners.
  • Mentor junior team members and onboard new clients/vendors.
  • Implement process improvements for scalability across Commerce practice.
  • Package learnings into case studies and client-facing POVs.

About the Role

The Sr Manager, Commerce Strategy leads the day-to-day commerce relationship and growth agenda for one or more of Monks' most important client businesses. This is a role for a strategic thinker with a high degree of ownership, the analytical skills to turn raw retail and advertising data into decisions, and the intellectual flexibility to keep pace with a fast-changing commerce environment. The team you'll work within demonstrates expertise in:

  • Building and presenting high-impact business reviews and growth plans to senior-level clients
  • Full-funnel command of the Amazon ecosystem across Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, Amazon DSP, and Amazon Marketing Cloud, extended to other retail media networks
Responsibilities:
  • Own the day-to-day commerce strategy for your accounts: build annual growth plans, promotional calendars and go-to-market and product launch plans that ladder to client business goals.
  • Work with Advertising Managers (activation team) to design the ad strategy (setting budget allocation, bidding and targeting approaches across Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display and Amazon DSP.
  • Connect advertising to retail fundamentals: partner with clients and internal teams on catalog and detail page health, retail readiness, pricing, promotions, inventory and supply chain considerations that make or break performance.
  • Own daily and weekly client interaction: facilitate client calls and meetings, handle one-off requests and share performance details with clear next steps.
  • Build and present monthly and quarterly business reviews that tie advertising and retail performance to the client's commercial outcomes.
  • Analyze data from Amazon Vendor and Seller Central, consoles and measurement platforms to identify growth opportunities and craft targeted recommendations.
  • Create and maintain sales and inventory forecasts, and flag risks to revenue or delivery early.
  • Support negotiations and joint business planning with Amazon and other retail partners on the client's behalf, and help resolve operational, logistical and business escalations.
  • Be the internal champion for your client's goals, coordinating closely with account, advertising, content, Investment and Data & Measurement teams.
  • Use AI-enabled tools to accelerate research, competitive and category analysis, plan building and reporting.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, and help onboard new clients and vendors.
  • Implement process improvements and support scalability initiatives across the Commerce practice.
  • Package learnings into case studies, best practices and client-facing POVs with cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to the culture of the Media Strategy department and the agency by being curious, thoughtful and fearless.
About You
The essentials:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commerce, retail media, retail operations or business management/consulting, with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Amazon Vendor Central and/or Seller Central.
  • Experience with promotion planning, pricing, inventory management and retailer negotiations.
  • Highly analytical, able to create targeted recommendations from raw data.
  • Demonstrated ability to present to and earn the trust of senior leaders, and to build and manage relationships across client and retailer organizations.
  • A self-starter who manages multiple projects at once with very high standards for your work.
  • Comfortable in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment: figuring it out and adapting as you go.
  • Comfortable with data analysis and eager to adopt AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to support and mentor team members, and the desire to grow as a leader.
  • Not afraid to defect from the status quo in order to make our clients and company more successful.
  • BA or equivalent with emphasis on marketing, advertising, or business.

This role is subject to our Return to Office (RTO) policy. If you reside within a commutable distance of one of our office locations, you will be expected to work from the office a set number of days per week. The specific details, including the number of required office days, will be in accordance with the company’s then-current RTO policy, which is subject to change from time to time.

Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.

Salary Range: $85,000—$95,000 USD
