Job summary

EvenUp, a fast-growing vertical SaaS company in Houston, is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to scale our accounting operations and strengthen financial reporting under US GAAP. You will lead the close process, manage a small team, and drive process improvements across general ledger, AP, and month-end close.

You'll collaborate across teams to ensure accurate expense tracking, support international accounting, and build audit-ready records while targeting automation and KPI-driven

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including GL, payroll, AP, and month-end close.
• 2+ years of people management experience with direct oversight of accounting staff.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration (CPA preferred).
• Tech Savvy: comfortable navigating modern finance systems and quickly learning new tools.
• Growth Mindset: seeks to understand the why behind the numbers and improve processes.
• Attention to detail with ability to produce accurate work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, and month-end close.
• Oversee data entry, coding, and processing of invoices with strong controls over disbursements.
• Manage and develop a team; set priorities and review work to drive performance.
• Identify and implement automation to improve efficiency across the accounting function, including NetSuite optimization and close-management tooling.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate expense tracking and deadlines.
• Support foreign subsidiaries, intercompany activity, and consolidations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

As a Senior Accounting Manager at EvenUp, you’ll play a key role in scaling and strengthening our accounting operations as we continue to grow. You’ll lead the close process, manage a small but mighty team, and ensure accurate financial reporting aligned with US GAAP. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys mentoring others, and is always looking for ways to improve processes.

What you'll do:

• Operational Management: Own end-to-end accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, and month-end close. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

• AP Ownership: Oversee accurate data entry, coding, and timely processing of invoices, maintaining strong controls over disbursements.

• Leadership: Manage and develop a team. Set priorities, review work, and drive team performance.

• Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency across the accounting function using existing software tools including the optimization of the current NetSuite ERP system along with supporting the implementation of a close management tool.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across the company to ensure expenses are tracked accurately, processes are followed, and deadlines are met.

• International Accounting: Support foreign subsidiaries, intercompany activity, and consolidations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Quality Control: Maintain a high bar for accuracy and completeness, ensuring all financial records are audit-ready and well-documented.

• Possible Success Metrics (KPIs): Reduce the total number of business days required to complete the Month-end close while maintaining zero material audit adjustments, Balance Sheet Reconciliation Compliance, journal entry automation rate, and AI driven fluctuation analysis.

• Suggested Milestones: Review existing AP and ledger workflows, optimize NetSuite ERP, and support the implementation of a dedicated close management tool to automate manual tasks within 90 to 180 days.

What we look for:

• Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and month-end close. Experience with international accounting, consolidations, or cross-border operations preferred.

• Experience: 2+ years of people management experience with direct oversight of accounting staff.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration (CPA preferred).

• Tech Savvy: Comfortable navigating modern finance systems and able to quickly learn and optimize new tools.
