University of Rhode Island is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of skilled maintenance duties across buildings and equipment at the Narragansett Bay Campus. The role requires operating and supervising within plumbing, steam systems, mechanical and electrical trades as part of a maintenance team.
Position is full-time, with a standard daytime schedule, and involves supervising helpers, using shop tools, and following sketches/diagrams for repairs.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of machinery, buildings and equipment; to perform work of a skilled level in several trades; and related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives general directions and instructions from a superior with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment; work is reviewed on completion.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises helpers and others who are assigned to assist.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A working knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools and processes involved in trades related to general building maintenance; a working knowledge of the operation of mechanical equipment; a working knowledge of the use of common tools and materials; the ability to make varied repairs without supervision; and ability to supervise a small group of helpers; the ability to work from pencil sketches and diagrams; and related capacities and abilities.
EDUCATION: Such as may have been gained through completion of ten school grades; and
EXPERIENCE: Such as may have been gained through employment in building and plant maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical or mechanical trades.
OR: any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
