Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Sr. Maintenance Technician to support the Structural Heart production line in Plymouth, MN. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical and PLC issues, and manage CMMS records to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.

Ideal candidates have a technical diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Technology and at least 5 years in an industrial setting, with hands-on experience in molding tooling and production support. Competitive shift and benefits apply.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and perform preventative maintenance on production equipment (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic).
  • Inspect, clean, and repair molding and tooling used in injection molding.
  • Install custom accessories needed to ready equipment for production.
  • Purchase needed items for inventory, spare parts and emergency repairs.
  • Maintain maintenance software database and generate equipment reports.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and arrange for outside service when needed.
  • Perform visual inspections of equipment and fixtures.
  • Diagnose PLC problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Complete CMMS work orders and preventive maintenance tasks on schedule.
  • Respond to production down issues and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Issue parts to CMMS work orders and manage inventory of critical spare parts.
  • Assist with production line moves and update equipment records in CMMS.
  • Add assets and parts, create PM schedules, and set up users in CMMS.
  • Perform installation qualifications of equipment and produce reports.
  • Create change requests to update PM procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate maintenance plans and long-term equipment repairs.
  • Assign PM work orders to technicians and balance workload.
  • Understand part, tooling and electrical drawings.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and vendors.
  • Support QMS, EMS and regulatory requirements; comply with FDA regulations.

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN, location in the Structural Heart business.

Main Purpose of Role

Perform and provide guidance in preventative maintenance, safety checks, repairs, installations, tooling inspections and modifications on production equipment. Maintain records on all production machines and equipment. Maintain a database for maintenance repairs, work orders and inventory. Looking for a team player who is willing to get their hands dirty, learn new technologies and lead by their actions and words.

What You’ll Work On
  • Diagnose and perform preventative maintenance (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) on production equipment
  • Knowledge of injection molding and tooling maintenance.
  • Ability to inspect, clean and repair molding and tooling used in injection molding.
  • Install custom accessories needed to ready equipment for production
  • Purchase needed items for inventory, spare parts and emergency repairs
  • Maintain maintenance software database to keep accurate records and produce equipment reports
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment.
  • Recognize repair items that require outside service and arrange for repair.
  • Perform visual inspections of equipment and fixtures.
  • Diagnose PLC problems and take appropriate corrective action to repair.
  • Complete CMMS work orders and preventive maintenance tasks on time per the established schedule.
  • Respond to production down issues in a timely manner and communicate status to stakeholders based on escalation requirements.
  • Issue parts to CMMS work orders and maintain an accurate inventory of critical spare parts.
  • Assist with production line moves and update equipment records in CMMS.
  • Add assets and parts, create PM schedules, transfer assets, and setup users in CMMS.
  • Perform installation qualifications of equipment and produce associated report.
  • Create change requests to update PM procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate maintenance plan and response to complex and longer-term equipment repairs.
  • Assign PM work orders to technicians and ensure an even distribution of PM work.
  • Understand part, tooling and electrical drawings
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form to all levels of employees and outside contractors.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Monday – Thursday, 5am – 3:30pm

The base pay for this position is $23.55 – $47.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
