Job summary

Revance is seeking a Sr. Maintenance Technician in Newark, CA to independently perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, and train on process and utility equipment across manufacturing and research operations.

The role reports to the Senior Manager, Facilities and may back up administrative tasks as needed. Location is on-site in Newark, CA five days a week with compensation of $42.00 - $47.00 per hour plus an annual performance bonus.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Must work independently with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow GMP processes and institutional requirements.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks.

  • Perform routine and non-routine equipment maintenance, modifications and repairs.
  • Identify quality events to protect product and assets.
  • Analyze equipment, develop corrective actions for technical problems.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors to ensure PMs are completed on schedule.
  • Assist with development of spare parts inventory and SOPs.

Job Summary

The Sr. Maintenance Technician will independently perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and training on a variety of equipment (both process and utility) in support of Manufacturing, Process Development, Research, QC and laboratory operations. The incumbent will also assist the Senior Manager, Facilities in selected administrative tasks, and may act as a backup during their absence.

Reporting to: Sr. Manager, Facilities

Location/Territory: Newark, CA - Onsite 5 days/week

Compensation: $42.00 - $47.00/hour + annual performance bonus

Responsibilities/Essential Duties
  • Perform routine and non-routine equipment maintenance, modifications, and repairs on a timely basis.
  • Identify and respond to quality events to ensure protection of product and assets.
  • Analyze equipment and systems, develop and execute corrective actions to technical problems.
  • Participate on project teams for major projects and complete individual projects as assigned.
  • Order parts and components for jobs as needed. Assist with development of a spare parts inventory for new and existing equipment.
  • Review, modify, and write preventative maintenance and facility equipment standard operating procedures. Test new procedures for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform and document repairs, adjustments, and replacement of equipment and/or components per cGMP, GDP and CDC standards, and in accordance with Revance procedures.
  • Provide after hours on-call support.
  • Assist maintenance technicians if applicable in troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors to ensure projects and PM(s) are completed correctly and per schedule.
  • Support validation of equipment and system IQ, OQ, and PQ(s).
  • Execution of unscheduled maintenance work orders.
  • Assist with technical training for new maintenance technicians. Assist other departments with training in new equipment and/or building systems.
  • Carries out new equipment start-ups.
  • Supervises, assigns tasks, and provides direction, reviews and approves work and paperwork submitted by maintenance and calibration vendors as required.
  • Provide input to management on task-related performance of vendor maintenance technicians.
  • Redlines existing drawings. Provides basis for new drawings via hand drawn diagrams and schematics. Assists in drawing updates by performing system walk downs with P&ID(s).
  • Provide justification for small (under $25,000) capital projects and ensure capital project spending remains within specified project costs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in an Engineering discipline, and 3 years' directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of experience.
  • Must be able to work independently and have a high mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to follow and align work with GMP processes and requirements.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 3 years in a structured maintenance program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years' experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or other regulated industry.
  • Possess an advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles, including basic calibration practices.
  • Possess an intermediate knowledge of utility systems and process equipment in a cGMP environment.
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, refrigeration and/or process equipment (Bioreactors, autoclaves, lyophilizers, tanks, pumps, purified water systems, etc.).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Able to maintain accurate, legible records.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, PLC ladder logic, P&ID(s) and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports, justifications, procedures, work orders and PM descriptions.
  • Ability to perform mathematical and basic engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of CDC select agent regulations.
  • Knowledge of PLC(s).
  • Experience with toxin manufacturing.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
