Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Sr. Maintenance Technician to monitor and control building utilities at a biopharmaceutical site.

You will use the Building Management System (BMS) to oversee steam, water purification, refrigeration, wastewater, and compressed air systems, ensuring continuous operation and safety. The role requires 7+ years in a commercial property setting, trade licensing as applicable, and strong troubleshooting across electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and related training.
• 7+ years of related work experience in a commercial property setting.
• Appropriate license/permit for trade as required (Journeyman/Master Electrician License, Refrigeration Certificate, etc.).
• May require Universal Technician certification for CFCs depending on licensure requirements.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Experience in operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor Utilities equipment and systems via the BMS to ensure continuous operation.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Engineering and client teams to minimize impact and maximize equipment availability.
• Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical failures.
• Inspect and maintain boilers, steam generators, RO units, chillers, compressors and wastewater systems.
• Prepare work orders, document issues and communicate status.
• Read mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics to support repairs.
• Support other maintenance staff and training to stay current with technologies.

Job Description Summary

Monitor utility equipment and systems for continuous operation at a world class biopharmaceutical manufacturing site, utilizing automation controls, alarm systems, rounds / readings and local controls.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Utilize the Building Management System (BMS) to control Utilities equipment and systems including various steam, water purification, refrigeration, wastewater, compressed air/gas systems, and hazardous chemicals.

• Interface with Manufacturing, Engineering, and various client organizations as necessary to minimize Manufacturing impact and ensure equipment availability.

• Troubleshooting: Must be proficient in troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical failures.

• Ensure that all systems including boilers, clean steam generators, water for injection stills, reverse osmosis units, air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, wastewater flows and associated equipment function correctly.

• Respond to a wide range of mechanical and electrical problems and troubleshoot to repair.

• Document problems encountered and communicate these through work order systems, electronic mail, and voice systems.

• Perform inspections on all utility systems and associated equipment.

• Work with other trade skills to complete work orders to trade standards and customer expectations. Willing to continue both formal and informal training in the present skill set to maintain the knowledge of the present and latest technologies.

• Knowledge of air compressors, air dryers, reverse osmosis units, water distilling units, clean steam generators and the ability to trouble shoot and perform minor maintenance from written procedures in a GMP environment.

• Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.

• Support Maintenance Planner as may be required.

• Perform any and all other duties as assigned. Including monitoring Jr Technicians to ensure all company policies/procedures and client SOPs are followed correctly. Report all concerns to C&W SERVICES mgmt. immediately.

• Initiate the purchase of parts, materials, equipment, supplies etc., in accordance with company procedures and provide technical assistance when required to facilitate such purchases.

• The ability to read and understand mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma, GED, Trade, Technical, or Vocational school

IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE:

7+ years of related work experience in a commercial property setting or any similar combination of education or experience

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City Licenses, such as Refrigeration Certificate of Fitness, High Pressure Boiler License, High Pressure Steam Operator, etc.).

• May be required to have certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s depending on market licensure requirements.

• Valid driver’s license and good driving record with periodic checks (where applicable).

• Basic Computing Skills in Outlook, Excel & Word.

• Experience in operation, maintenance and basic repair of HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.

• Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques and operations.

• Thorough knowledge in all building systems operations, maintenance and repair.

• May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and/or on call duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to travel from floor to floor, climb stairs, and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions. The compensation for the position is: $31.38 - $36.92
