Job summary

Wellstar is seeking a Senior Maintenance Mechanic to maintain hospital infrastructure across pumps, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems. This full-time role requires hands-on expertise, the ability to lead the maintenance team, and a commitment to reliability in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

You will perform repairs, conduct preventive maintenance, support electrical and medical gas systems, and participate in on-call coverage, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED plus HVAC, electrical, or plumbing training.
• 5+ years of general mechanical maintenance and repair experience.
• Knowledge of building mechanical systems, diagnostic equipment, blueprints, and healthcare facility life safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, lighting systems, plumbing, HVAC equipment, and doors.
• Support hospital infrastructure including medical gas and vacuum systems, emergency generators, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, and elevators.
• Conduct Life Safety inspections and ensure compliance with Joint Commission and NFPA standards.
• Assist with construction and renovation projects and maintain documentation and parts orders.
• Lead maintenance team and assume leadership in the absence of the team lead.
• Participate in rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage.

Work Shift Various (United States of America) Senior Maintenance Mechanic Full Time Shift Vary

Key Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, lighting systems, plumbing, HVAC equipment, commercial doors, automatic door operators, sheetrock, and building systems.
• Support hospital infrastructure including medical gas and vacuum systems, emergency generators, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, tube stations, elevators, overhead paging, and power plant operations.
• Conduct Life Safety inspections, above-ceiling assessments, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission, NFPA, and healthcare facility standards.
• Assist with construction and renovation projects, maintain documentation, order parts and materials, and complete work orders in a timely manner.
• Serve as a lead resource for the maintenance team and assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the team lead.
• Participate in rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED plus technical training, certification, or formal education in HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing.
• Minimum of 5 years of general mechanical maintenance and repair experience.
• Strong knowledge of building mechanical systems, power and hand tools, diagnostic equipment, blueprints, and healthcare facility life safety requirements.
• Expertise in at least one specialty area such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, medical gas, nurse call, or related systems.
• Computer proficiency and ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
