Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent post-secondary education in Machine Tool Technology and 1 year of related machining experience OR 3+ years of experience machining large components to close tolerances.
  • Experience reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to work with close tolerances and large turbine components.

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines, horizontal boring mills, vertical turning lathes, and/or horizontal lathes.

Essential Responsibilities

As a Senior Machinist, you will set up and operate CNC machining equipment used in the manufacture of critical turbine components. This position supports multiple machining operations and requires the ability to work with close tolerances, complex drawings, and large industrial components.

Responsibilities include:

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines, horizontal boring mills, vertical turning lathes, and/or horizontal lathes as assigned.
  • Machine large turbine components and forgings to close tolerances while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and CNC programs.
  • Interface with quality, engineering, manufacturing, and production control teams to support daily operations.
  • Perform machining operations including setup, tooling adjustments, offsets, inspections, and dimensional verification.
  • Use precision measuring and gauging equipment to verify product conformance.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and machine records.
  • Perform routine operator preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Safely perform rigging, material handling, and lifting activities using cranes and related equipment.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, cycle reduction, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support Environmental, Health & Safety programs and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Cross-train and support multiple machining centers and product lines as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent post-secondary education in Machine Tool Technology and at least 1 year of experience machining large components to close tolerances using CNC milling, boring, turning, or lathe equipment; or
  • Minimum 3 years of experience machining large components to close tolerances using CNC machining centers, mills, lathes, vertical turning lathes, or horizontal boring mills; or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant machining experience.
  • Flexibility:Willingness to work A, B C, or D Shift.
    • A: 5AM - 3:30PM (MON, TUES, WED, TH)
    • B: 3:30PM - 2AM (MON, TUES, WED, TH)
    • C: 6AM - 6:30PM (FRI, SAT, SUN)
    • D: 6PM - 6:30AM (FRI, SAT, SUN)

Additionally, qualified candidates should have:

  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, machine setup, and offsets.
  • Strong shop math skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and perform material handling activities.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay Rate:The starting pay rate for this position is $38.3614/hour plus a 10% shift bonus. An additional 10% shift bonus is available for certain shifts. This posting is expected to close once suitable candidates are identified.
