Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer for the Infrastructure Platform to push the envelope in building trusted, scalable technology products.

You will lead agile teams, drive secure production code, and adopt AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality, speed, and reliability. The role requires deep Java full-stack expertise (10+ years) with leadership experience, strong RESTful API design, React front-end skills, and cloud/container experience.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts.
• 10+ years of Java full-stack development with 3+ years of leadership.
• Expert-level RESTful API design using Java 11+, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA.
• Strong front-end skills in React; relational DBs like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience leading AI-assisted software development tools and setting team expectations for AI outputs.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows; coaching senior engineers/leads.
• Proficiency in AI-assisted coding using tools like GitHub Copilot and evaluating AI-generated code.
• Strong prompt engineering for LLMs to produce secure, efficient code.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate development workflows and productivity.

Job responsibilities

• Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Drives adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.
• Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• 10+ years ofJava full-stack development experience with 3+ yrs of proven track record of technical leadership
• Expert-level proficiency in RESTful API design and implementation Java 11+, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA
• Strong front-end development skills inReact and Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.
• Proficiency inAI-assisted coding using tools such as GitHub Copilot, or similar AI pair-programming assistants and Ability to evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated code for quality, security, and performance
• Strongprompt engineering skills with the ability to craft effective prompts for Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate accurate, efficient, and secure code
• Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate development workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance team productivity
