Job summary

JPMorganChase, within the Asset & Wealth Management, Digital Assets Team, seeks a Lead Software Engineer to drive design, development, and secure production code in an agile setting. You’ll collaborate with Platform, Product, and Core Blockchain teams to deliver scalable solutions on AWS/Kubernetes with a focus on security and reliability.

You will mentor teams, lead architectural discussions, and champion best practices across the engineering organization.

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Design and develop scalable, secure services utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and TDD.
  • Collaborate with platform teams to enhance developer experience, toolchains, and cloud‑hosted blockchain services.
  • Work closely with Product, Operations, and Core Blockchain teams to innovate and execute transformative blockchain use cases.
  • Strong OO programming background in Java or Go/Rust/JavaScript.
  • Proficiency with enterprise development toolchains: Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing.
  • Demonstrable cloud native experience, AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Proven track record delivering complex software projects into production.
  • Excellent collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Asset & Wealth Management, Digital Assets Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market‑leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities
  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes‑oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading‑edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Design and develop scalable, secure services utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and TDD
  • Collaborate with platform teams to enhance developer experience, toolchains, and cloud‑hosted blockchain services.3
  • Work closely with Product, Operations, and Core Blockchain teams to innovate and execute transformative blockchain use cases.
  • Strong object‑oriented programming language background in Java or more of the following languages: Go, Rust or JavaScript
  • Proficiency with enterprise development toolchains: Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing
  • Demonstrable practical cloud native experience, in particular AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proven track record delivering complex software projects into production
  • Excellent collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Hands‑on knowledge of end-2-end development in web3 ecosystem – such as smart contract development, deployment, interaction with RPC providers, integrating with key management systems is a plus
  • Exposure to building on public or permissioned blockchain platforms (e.g., Ethereum/EVM, Hyperledger, Solana, Polkadot, Cosmos, Avalanche, Canton) is a plus
  • Thorough understanding of cryptographic protocols and blockchain implementations
  • Good understanding in key management, custody solutions and cryptographic fundamentals is a plus
