Job summary

NextPath Workforce Solutions seeks a Sr. Java Software Developer for an onsite contract role in Reading, PA. The candidate will lead backend development, design scalable database schemas, and collaborate with product owners and UX/UI teams to deliver high-quality software.

The role requires 8-10 years of full-stack Java experience, strong RESTful APIs, and cloud/SaaS familiarity. Responsibilities include coding, reviews, testing, and mentorship within an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of full-stack Java development experience.
• Proficiency in React, Angular, jQuery, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Spring/Spring-MVC, myBatis, RESTful APIs.
• Experience with relational database design and complex SQL queries.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience working in small to mid-sized SaaS or startup environments.
• Knowledge of SaaS platforms in cloud environments.
• Understanding of modern software design frameworks and architecture principles.
• Knowledge of AI/machine learning/data science (preferred, not mandatory).

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of backend systems and design relational database schemas for scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Contribute to frontend design collaborating with product owners and UX/UI designers.
• Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following best practices.
• Review code and deliverables from team members, providing mentorship.
• Support the full product lifecycle—develop, test, release, and support—aligned with Agile principles.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure alignment across teams.
• Write automated tests, implement CI/CD pipelines, and troubleshoot production issues.
• Document systems, architecture, and processes for knowledge sharing.
• Evaluate and interview candidates to support hiring efforts.
• Research and adopt emerging development tools and frameworks.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring effective teamwork in cross-functional environments.

SALARY

$58-70/hour (depending on experience)
