Job summary

SkyWater Technology is seeking a Senior IT Technician for its Minnesota headquarters. You will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot Windows-based workstations, ensuring security, compliance, and governance across the organization.

You will mentor junior staff and serve as the escalation point for Tier-1 and Tier-2 issues. Your responsibilities include imaging, deployment with SCCM, patch management, documentation, asset management, and collaborating with leadership to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 4+ years in a technical support role.
• Deep knowledge of Windows operating systems.
• Experience with SCCM, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, ITSM ticketing systems and remote support tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues with workstations and printers.
• Test and deploy system images and software packages using Microsoft SCCM.
• Test and deploy OS and application security patches and updates, ensuring policy compliance.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and the knowledge base.
• Manage IT inventory, including procurement, deployment, and disposal of hardware.

This role is fully onsite, Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am-6:00pm.

Primary Objective

The Senior IT Technician is responsible for maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting Windows-based workstations while ensuring corporate security, compliance, and governance standards are maintained. They act as the escalation point for Tier-1 and Tier-2 issues, and mentor junior staff.

Major Areas of Accountability

• Complex Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues with workstations and printers.
• Imaging and Deployment: Test and deploy system images and software packages using Microsoft SCCM.
• Security & Patching: Test and deploy OS and application security patches and updates, and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Process Improvement: Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and the knowledge base.
• Asset Management: Manage IT inventory, including procurement, deployment, and disposal of hardware.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Experience: 4+ Years in a technical support role.
• Skills:
  • Operating Systems: Deep knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Tools: Experience with SCCM, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, ITSM ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Hardware: Expertise in troubleshooting desktop and laptop components.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation (Exposure to Ansible, Python, or similar is a plus)
  • Networking: Understanding of networking protocols (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Soft skills: Strong communication skills to interact with users and leadership, alongside analytical, problem-solving skills.
• Travel: Some domestic travel may be required.
• Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00am - 6:00pm

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in semiconductor or manufacturing including experience with operational technology and industrial networks.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 35-40 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting, and perform tasks requiring bending or crouching.

The hourly range for this role is $25.00-$36.00. Pay offered is based on many factors including, but not limited to, the job-related experience, skills, education, and credentials of each candidate.
