Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. IT Network Engineer to lead design, implementation, and support of our campus and data center networks, including wireless infrastructure. You will develop automation, enforce NAC with 802.1X, and drive policy standards while maintaining thorough network documentation.

The role requires 7+ years of network engineering or 10+ years without a degree, a STEM degree, and onsite work in Texas with extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other STEM discipline with 7+ years of professional network engineering experience; OR 10+ years of professional network engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
• Expert understanding of OSI model and network standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and troubleshooting of large-scale wired and wireless networks.
• Configure, install, and support campus and data center networks.
• Troubleshoot wired/wireless networking issues.
• Support deployment of NAC using 802.1X.
• Develop and enforce network policies and standards.

SR. IT NETWORK ENGINEER

SpaceX is looking for an experienced network engineer with expertise in networking technologies that support routing, switching, dynamic multicast, Wi‑Fi, network access control, automation, etc. This position will be directly involved with supporting and expanding our campus and data center infrastructure as well as our expansive wireless network using reliable and redundant design standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of large-scale, complex wired and wireless networks.
• Configure, install, and support campus and data center networks.
• Troubleshoot wired/wireless networking‑related issues.
• Support the deployment of network access control (NAC) using 802.1X.
• Develop and enforce network policies and standards.
• Plan and prepare project roadmaps.
• Develop network automation tools to support our enterprise network.
• Monitor network health using in‑house and third‑party tools.
• Create and maintain proper documentation of our networks.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other STEM discipline and 7+ years of professional network engineering experience; OR 10+ years of professional network engineering experience in lieu of a degree.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Expert understanding of the OSI model and network standards.
• Cisco Catalyst, Juniper, and Arista data center‑class switches.
• Cisco wireless LAN controllers or other wireless technologies.
• Network Access Control (NAC) using 802.1X.
• Wave Division Multiplexing and Fiber Optics.
• DNS, DHCP, SNMP, IP helpers, ARP, CDP, LLDP.
• BGP routing.
• Switch port security features.
• Network monitoring tools.
• Network documentation.
• Linux/Windows system administration.
• Experience with Python scripting.
• Industry‑standard certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or JNCIE.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
• This role requires you to be onsite. Hybrid or remote work will not be considered.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
